Chapter seventeen
"Hey, you okay?" Allison knocks on my door
I don't turn to look at her
I've been in my bed for days, i haven't talked to anyone
My phone has been spammed with messages, i turned it off, i haven't replied to any of them
Allison comes over and sits on my bed
She reaches out and tucks my hair behind my ear
"You have to get ready, her funeral is today"
I just nod and sit up
"Come here" She opens her arms and i lean into her, she wraps her arms around my and rubs my back
Tears start forming in my eyes, not long after there pouring out
"I-i can't believe she's.." I sob
"I know, you're going to be okay, she is so proud of you" Allison comforts
"For what? Sitting in my bed for days? Crying all day and night? I should've been able to save her Ally"
"No, no, it's not your responsibility to save her Siren, you couldn't do anything, she was dead before you got there"
"I should have got there earlier" I finally look into her eyes
"Siren, it's not your fault"
"But maybe if i had been there earlier i could have saved her"
"No Siren, listen to me, it's not your fault, there's nothing you could have done to prevent it" She puts her hands on my shoulders
"Please know that"
I just force a smile on my face and nod
"Try and get ready, she would want you to be there" She hugs me again before getting up and leaving
I push past reporters to get to my mothers casket
"Siren, how do you feel about your mum killing the whole Hale family?" A reporter shoves a microphone in my face
"Ignore them" Allison wraps her arm around mine
"Siren, did you help you mother kill the Hale family?" Another one asks
This time i don't ignore them, i turn around and punch them in the face
"Oh my god" Allison says pulling me away
"DON'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT MY MUM AGAIN!" I yell
We go past where the reporters aren't allowed and walk over to her casket
I sit down, tears forming in my eyes already
The priest starts saying a few words
