*INTRO*
(3 Years Ago in Shinanshina district. It is currently your 7th birthday, and you are celebrating with only your parents.)---
YOUR POV:
I was sitting at our worn dining table, eagerly digging into my plate of (F/F). Across from me, Mom sat smiling as she watched me enjoy her cooking.
Mother: Are you enjoying your food, honey?
Y/N: Absolutely, this is amazing as always, Mom! You really outdid yourself this time.
I said while taking a bite. Her home-cooked meals are always the highlight of my day.
Mother: I'm glad! I did the best I could - it is your birthday after all. If only you had invited some friends to celebrate with us. I'm sure they would have loved to share in your special day.
Y/N: Friends? You know I don't have any mom... Besides I'm fine just spending quality time with you and Dad. And it's not like we'd have enough food to share with them anyway.
Mother: Y/N, you really should try to make some friends, you know. Friendships are so important, especially as you get older. Your father and I...we won't be around forever.
Here she goes again with this talk.
Y/N: I know... but to me, it's all stupid. Friends are just a liability if you ask me. I'd rather rely on myself than have to worry about keeping up with a bunch of needy people. Less drama that way.
She squinted her eyes, a disapproving look on her face.
Mother: Y/N L/N, what did I say about using that kind of dismissive language? Friends are not "stupid" or a liability.
Y/N: S-Sorry, Mom. I'll try to be more...positive about the whole friend thing.
Mother: Hmph, I suppose that's the best I'll get out of you for now. It's your Birthday so I'll let it slide. But mark my words, one day you'll understand.
Whatever you say.
Y/N: Can we just enjoy the meal now? This food is too good to let it get cold.
I continued eating while slightly annoyed, scarfing down the food in large bites. From the head of the table, my dad peered at me over his newspaper.
Father: Now don't go scarfing it all down too fast there, Y/N. You know how rare (F/F) is inside these walls nowadays. Best to savor every bite.
You sighed, disappointed at that.
Sadly, Dad was right. F/F was a rare treat, and every bite mattered. My parents often went without so I could have my fill. I slowed down my chewing and then shifted my focus to where Dad's left arm should be.
