Commandant Keith's POV:

Have to say, I was surprised how they were able to turn it around from being an embarrassing group to making it to the top.

Instructor: These latest recruits look well-matched. We can expect great things, I think. Ackerman's an obvious ace. I'd say your top students are pretty well decided already.

Shadis: Yeah, a lot of them show promise. But a good soldier is more than his or her own abilities. Most Titan encounters come down to teamwork. Sometimes how well you cooperate with your comrades is what saves your skin.

I turned to face Cadet L/N, and then his group... You don't often find a soldier like him who can pull a group together just like that and get them to perform at their best. It looks like we might just have someone with that innate ability.

The Graduation Ceremony is in just two more years. I already have a good idea of who I will pick.

*INTRO*

YOUR POV:

3 years of hard training had finally passed. The day of graduation is tonight, only 10 people will be chosen as the top of the class, given the privilege to become an MP. Not that I'd choose that even if I was picked... But for now this afternoon, we're instructed to spar, hand-to-hand combat with other cadets.

I stood back without an opponent at the moment, watching my comrades train. One match interested me... it was that Moretti Reno guy and Annie Leonhart. He was holding his ground pretty well, almost tying with her, but Annie won most of the time.

While you were watching, you heard your name called from behind you. You turned around to face the voice.

Eren: Y/N, there you are!

Y/N: Eren?

Eren: The other cadets aren't much of a challenge anymore. Fighting them feels pretty much pointless. I need tougher training. I have to get stronger!

Y/N: I wouldn't take this whole hand-to-hand combat too seriously. It's not like we're fighting titans with their fists.

Eren crossed his arms, looking unsatisfied.

Eren: Maybe not, but we always have to be prepared for the unexpected. And if we get separated from our ODM gear or blades, being able to fight without it could be the difference between life and death.
