Erwin: That's a burden no one should have to bear, but it's one that shapes you. Your resolve is admirable, Y/N, but remember this...your strength alone won't be enough. The operation to retake Trost District was finally over. It all happened in a day, but it felt like forever. That night, we were ordered to shower and clean off the grime, dirt, blood, and everything else we had endured.
I was thinking back to everything that happened today. Sure, it was a victory for humanity, but it didn't feel like one. What kind of victory has more of our own soldiers dead than Titans? I can still hear their screams... This is what war is like, and it was only our first real battle. There will be many more.
Tomorrow, we'll be back out there, gathering what's left of the fallen, making sure they're cremated to avoid more problems.
At least Commander Erwin personally invited me to join the Scout Regiment. Early, too. That's something...
