"Ugh!" Felix groaned as he dropped his tired body on his bed. He already had his shower and was in his clean clothes, ready to sleep. He had another tiring day at work and he was the happiest to go back home.
He lifted his upper body up to look at the walls surrounding him. They had nothing anymore. The window too was wide open, allowing the summer breeze to brush his body. It's been a week since the night he spent with Norah. He never thought that spending a night with a virgin ghost would be that exciting. It was nothing like he expected 'a night with a virgin ghost' would be. He chuckled at his own thought.
"Knock knock!" A voice echoed from behind him making him jump to his feet.
He turned around while jumping, which made him stumble and fall backward, landing on his butt. "Jesus Christ!" He groaned.
A lovely giggle echoed inside his room. He lifted his head to let his eyes meet the owner of that giggle that warmed his heart. His eyes fell on Norah, who was laughing while looking breathtaking as she always did.
"Damn, Norah! You scared the shit out of me."
"Are you always that jumpy?" She asked while making her way towards him. She stopped in front of him, extending a hand for him to take. "Here."
He took that hand and pushed himself up. They both stood facing each other, locking eyes while remaining silent. Few inches separating them. Hands still laced.
"Umm, how is your hand?" Norah asked, looking down at the hand she was holding.
"It's healing. Almost there." Felix replied. His eyes never left her face. "How's your mother?"
Norah lifted her head to look at him with a wide genuine smile. "Great! She's doing fine. She was discharged from the hospital and back home. She visited my grave yesterday. She surely cried her heart out, making me cry too, but she forgave herself. She's not going to do something irrational again. Hopefully."
"That's.. that's good!" Felix commented.
"Yeah, it is." She looked down at his hand again. She was caressing it with her soft fingers. "It's strange how I can touch you when I can't touch others."
"I'm not normal." He shrugged.
"I know." She smiled at him again. Silence wrapped them once more but it was never awkward.
Felix stepped closer to her, almost closing the gap between their bodies. His other hand moved hesitantly to her hair, softly brushing it out of her gorgeous face. "And?" He questioned, making her snap out of her thoughts. "You are here for something, right?" He almost whispered.
"Ah! Yes." She looked at him with heaviness. "I guess I'm leaving. I have to. That's why I came."
"To take me with you?" Felix wiggled his brows at her.
Norah rolled her eyes. "Still hooked on the virgin ghost thing?" She questioned. Felix shook his head with a chuckle. "But you can follow me, you know, if you want." She smirked at him.
"What if I want to?" He asked, making her eyes widen.
"You are not serious. No! You can't be. NO! Felix, I was kidding and it-"
"Shhh!" Felix shushed her. His hand gently rubbed her cheek in an assuring way. "Don't panic. I'm not going anywhere now. Somehow, I feel like I have something bigger waiting for me here. Thanks to you, I'm finally not hating my powers anymore." He smiled at her.
She smiled back at him, feeling relief deep inside her heart. "Thank you!" She smiled at him sweetly then lifted her free hand to cup his face. "For everything. I'm finally able to say goodbye and leave. I thought I would be stuck here forever."
"I thought you would be following me forever." Felix joked.
"Good for you I'm leaving."
"Good for you you're leaving. Otherwise, you'd have turned into an evil spirit and I'd have to hunt you." Felix replied, leaning in her palm that was still cupping his face. "I should've met you earlier. I should've known you when you were alive." He added, sadness lacing his words.
"It could've been nice, though. But I'm happy with our short encounter." She breathed. "I should go now." She gently pushed herself away from him.
"I'll walk you to the door." Felix said.
Scrunching her face, she replied. "I can literally leave through the window."
"No. I want to send you away like any normal human being."
"But I'm not a human." She protested.
"You used to be." He deadpanned.
Without giving her much time to protest for more, he intertwined their fingers and pulled her to the front door. Standing behind it, they stopped facing each other again.
Felix let out a breathy chuckle before he pulled her flush against his body. He then leaned in to place a soft peck at her cheek. "You know," He talked against her skin before he pulled back. "Virgin ghosts are not that bad after all." He chuckled making her chuckle too.
She shook her head lightly in disbelief. "You should stop whatever movies or dramas you watch to give you those images of ghosts." She joked. Looking down at their intertwined fingers, she sighed. "I guess that's it." She smiled at him.
Felix nodded at her sadly. Reluctantly, he let go of her hand and opened the door for her. Norah stepped out and stood at his doorway. She started walking away, down the corridor of apartment units. She stopped and turned to face him for the last time, flashing him her wide enchanting smile that almost made the charmed boy follow her.
"You know, I'm not sure if is that possible or not." She talked from afar. "But if it is possible, I will wait for you till you come to the other side, naturally."
Smiling widely, he replied. "Keep your promise or my heart will be broken."
"I will." She waved at him. "Goodbye, Felix." She said and turned to disappear in the hallway.
"Goodbye, Norah." He whispered.
The End.
