"You are never too old to tread the path of your desires, mapping your own journey through life's endless possibilities."
Izna's POV
The last thing I thought I’d do on this trip was get stuck in a freaking bathroom. Yeah, guess the lock was too secure—it got stuck.
But the best part? I’m standing here in just a towel because my brilliant mind forgot to grab my clothes. Too absent-minded from the morning haze, I rushed in to beat Adhrit and get in first. I think my inner child who never won that lemon spoon race still wants to validate herself at every chance.
Now, I’m regretting it as I can’t even call Adhrit. My ego can’t take this heavy bruise, or more to the point, I can’t face the humiliation. And I can’t go outside on my own. The worst part is my claustrophobia is kicking in.
Adding one more memory to my 3 a.m. secondhand embarrassments, I decided to call Adhrit in the sweetest, most alluring voice ever to exist, especially from my mouth.
The speed of his response was shocking, as if sound traveled faster than light.
“What trouble did you land yourself in again, Izna?” he instantly answered, his tone laced with anticipation.
Damn, it’s only been a week on this train, and he knows me a little too well.
“Uh, why do you think I only call you when I’m in trouble?” I asked, vexed and frustrated by how well he knew me.
“Well, Chotu, it’s not about why you called. You’re a trouble magnet and a menace to everyone around. So, what’s wrong?” he reasoned calmly and patiently.
To avoid snapping at him, I took a deep breath and calmed myself down since I had to ask for a favor.
“Adhrit, I completely agree with you”—not!—“and I think I’m stuck in this bathroom,” I sighed. It wasn’t so tough after all.
“And what am I supposed to do about it?” he asked nonchalantly.
The audacity of this man! A person is stuck in a freaking 200cm bathroom, and he asks what he should do! Calm down. Deep breaths. Cool, calm, collected. We need to get out of here, right? My subconscious mind reminded me.
“You’ve got to break the door to get me out,” I suggested in the sweetest voice, even though I wanted to strangle him.
“Why am I not surprised? You prove me right every time,” he added.
“What do you mean?” My tone clipped as I ran out of patience.
“I mean, why the hell or how the hell am I supposed to break the door?” he asked.
“Dikhne se toh Shaktimaan ki aulad lagte ho, ek gate nahi tod paoge?” I finally shouted, getting annoyed. I knew he was doing it intentionally.
“Aha, there it is. How can Satan become an angel? And you know what, I won’t do anything now. Spend the rest of your life in there,” he said in a sarcastic yet cold voice.
“I’m claustrophobic, Adhrit! Please, I’ll die. Oh my God, I can’t breathe. It’s so suffocating in here,” I shouted in panic, acting my way out. But it actually made me more conscious of the confined space.
“You see, sweetheart, your acting skills are definitely a ten, unlike you. But now I’m aware of it. Drop the act and beg me properly,” he mocked, emphasizing the word "properly."
Dear God, it’s your lovely devotee down here. If you’re listening, please take this rascal up with you. The world is too good for this type of person. Kindly take your special child back. Thanks.
