"Add a quarter of salt" Hinata ordered looking at the stew with an appreciative glance. Her lilac eyes watched Toneri vigilantly. He sprayed the salt on the food and the eight year old released a deep sigh, hoping Toneri didn't notice. She didn't want to him to see her edginess. After all Toneri's cooking skills were truly much to be desired and he really was not good in the kitchen.
An understament truly, she thought dryly, her brain remembering the first time she came to Toneri's wing. It was a disaster, to say the least, but then again, a genius couldn't be good in everything. So Hinata let it pass and tried to help him learn. He did improve but Hinata had always been frightened and never truly trusted him after another accident a year ago, when she thought he had gotten better.
He hadn't. But oh well, as she said, he couldn't be good at everything.
The Hyūga placed the bowls of rice and noodles, as well as the meat and vegetables on the table.
Kneeling down on the floor, side by side with Toneri, Hinata inhaled the food for a moment, as she held her chopsticks in anticipation. "Thank you for the food" She muttered softly, her voice syncing with Toneri as they both started to dig in.
Toneri, had a book on his left hand and chopsticks to his right. Hinata on the other hand ate her food whilst staring at the scroll on the ground. She glanced at Toneri who was dutifully focused on his book, and focused her attention on the scroll infront of her.
Her lilac eyes traced over the words to the deeper explanation of Fuinjutsu in the topic of sealing a living thing. It was a hard level type of sealing, as it depended on the fuinjutsu master's capabilities, and the power of the thing she was sealing and based on who she needed to seal in the future, it would be incredibly difficult, matter of fact, it was outright impossible right now. Her chopsticks paused for a moment, Toneri glanced at her, then Hinata resumed eating, picking the meat with a frown on her face.
She was intensely dedicated to her studies, she was also smart and talented, but, but, the sealing arts were not something she was proficient in. Not to say, her skill was low and below average, in fact it was above average.
But that all it was, she was no Uzumaki, she wouldn't have the skill nor the talent to seal a tailed beasts, much less Kaguya Otsutsuki, the mother of chakra. She knew that, Hamura knew that, but, he still pushed her to learn, to go beyond her limits and Hinata of course understood why, mainly because there was no defeating Kaguya Otsutsuki on her own. And as strong as Hinata was, and as fast as her level of improvement, even as far as being at even length with Toneri during their spars, she wouldn't reach Hamura's level.
Not in the next, 20 years, because as much as Hinata was learning at lightening speed, she didn't have the experience that Hamura had. Skill, talent, agility, and all those physical and mental prowess, she could have and they could be further polished, but it was not the same as experience. She also didn't have a brother like Hagoromo as a sparring partner, she only had Toneri, who as great as he was, wasn't someone who could push her to her limits as needed and she certainly couldn't spar with Hamura, it was too much of a gap and it was downright suicide.
She was sure, if- nevermind, she wouldn't be able to work with him anyway. Her body just wouldn't let her. Moreover, for the past three years since she arrived here, Hinata didn't seen much of Indra. She'd see a hair, maybe a shadow, or his back, but never him entirely. She was fine with that, however, her progress just could go faster with him as a sparring partner. However, she was really pathetic, she could barely breathe if she felt his presence -which she could now feel a bit- so approaching him was utterly impossible on her part. Besides, besides, he was really rare to see in this village.
