"And that is why I want to break up with you," Randy finished, standing in front of his soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend Marcia.

Marcia scoffed. Sometimes she wondered why she had even started dating Randy in the first place. He was ugly, mean, unfunny, and oh so privileged! Yes, she had money, she was a Soc, after all, but her parents were too busy enrolling and her younger brother in 50000 different after school activities than actually loving them. They probably had forgotten that she existed by now.

"Well?" Randy said, "I wanted to start dating that greaser girl, Kathy."

"Randy, that's stupid," Marcia said, "you know she's a greaser and you're a Soc. It's just not meant to be."

"Look, are ya gonna break up with me or not???"

"Yes!" Marcia said, "finally! God, I've been wanting to end this for so long!"

"Well, bye," Randy walked away. He was so stupid and dumb and ugly.

Marcia stood there. Now what?

She had no more options for a date. She had given that really cute greaser, Two Bit, her number, but he had never called back. She had been heartbroken, but had quickly moved on. Besides, he was in the gang that killed Randy's best friend, Bob...

She had never liked Bob. He was too serious, too mean, but he was still a living, breathing person, who didn't deserve to die.

How the hell did a little twerp like Johnny stab a big and violent man like Bob to death?

There had to be more to it...

"Marcia!" Cherry called out from across the courtyard, "lunch is over, we better be getting inside!"

"Coming!" Marcia hollered back, and ran back inside with her best friend.

"How are ya doin', Pony?" Two Bit asked as he lounged on the couch, watching Mickey Mouse.

"Better," Ponyboy replied, "I'm nearly done writing that report of mine."

"What is about?" Steve asked, his mouth stuffed with cake. He really didn't sound like he cared, but he was desperate to escape the awkward silence that had surrounded him and Two Bit for the past hour or so.

"Us," Ponyboy said, his voice turning a little frail, "and the whole..."

"'Bout how you saved 'em kids from the fire?" Steve said, stretching his legs out onto Two Bit.

"Get offa me, you ass," Two Bit cursed, throwing Steve to the ground.

"Ow!" Steve said, clutching his behind, "that hurt!"

"Alright, stop yer fighting," Darry said, walking in. His muscles were bulging through his black t-shirt, which was still stained with blood from the rumble.

"Hey Darry," Pony said, not looking at his older brother, "where's Soda?"

"He went to go work some extra hours at the gas station," Darry said, "for more money, he said."

"Hey, why didn't you go along wit' him, Steve?" Two Bit asked.

"I wanted to eat this here cake," Steve answered, shoving a huge piece into his face, "nothin' wrong with that."

Two Bit rolled his eyes. Steve was an idiot. Then again, they were all a bit of idiots.

"Hey, how's Kathy?" Steve asked randomly.

"She left me for Bob," Two Bit answered, "not that I care."

Darry nearly had a heart attack, "Randy??? The Soc????"

"Yes, the Soc," Two Bit said, "but it's not like it was that great of a switch. Ha ha!"

Ponyboy facepalmed. Two Bit was such an idiot.

"Well, that's a terrible idea!" Darry exclaimed, throwing his hands into the air, "a Soc and a greaser! Ha!"

"It can be a thing," Two Bit replied, lighting a cigarette, "'member me and Marcia?"

Ponyboy didn't want to think about Marcia. She was nice and all, but she was too associated with Cherry. And he was still hurting from that.

"No," Darry said in a disappointed voice, "I wasn't there."

"Well, you should've!" Two Bit laughed, "soma the best lookin' girls I ever seen! So good lookin' that they had they own private-"

"Alright Two," Darry said, holding up a hand, "that's enough."

Two Bit sighed, "wonder whatever happened to her."
