"There is no other love,
it's only yours"

"Promise you'll stay alive?" Elijah put his hands on Novalie's shoulders.

Novalie lazily nodded. "I promise, bye Chris, bye Elijah."

"Bye tiny, you better come back safe." Chris hugged Novalie.

"Don't ruin any of my things." Novalie walked away.

"We can't promise that!" Elijah waved.

Novalie turned around to give them a tired look. Elijah and Chris laughed at her before giving her a tight hug once more. Novalie and Chris gasped for air as Elijah finally let go.

"So, does this mean we can use your things?"

"If you any of my things, the last thing people will hear from you will be your screams." Novalie threatened.

"You would never hurt us." Elijah stuck his tongue out.

Novalie rolled her eyes. "Just tell that Aphrodite kid he still owes me for getting him and his sisters those hair products."

"Who?" Chris asked.

"Theo. Alright, I'll make sure you get whatever you wanted soon." Elijah nodded. "Hold on,
how did you get those products?"

"Some things are meant to be left alone." Novalie shrugged before leaving.

The camp store loaned the four one hundred dollars in mortal money and twentygolden drachmas. These coins were as big as Girl Scout cookies and had imagesof various Greek gods stamped on one side and the Empire State Building on the other. The ancient mortal drachmas had been silver, Chiron told them, but Olympians never used less than pure gold.

Chiron said the coins might come in handy for nonmortal transactions. He gave the demigods each a flask of nectar and an airtight bag full of ambrosia squares, to be used only in emergencies, if they were seriously hurt. It was god food, Chiron reminded them. It would cure them of almost any injury, but it was lethal to mortals. Too much of it would make a half-blood very, very feverish. An overdose would burn them up, literally.

Annabeth was bringing her magic Yankees cap, which was a twelfth-birthday present from her mom. She carried a book on famous classical architecture, written in Ancient Greek, to read when she got bored, and a long bronze knife, hidden in her shirt sleeve.

Novalie took two knives, one hidden behind her belt, and the other in her bag. She brought a sketchbook for when she got bored, a book on birds, an extra sweater for her daily nap on the way to the train, and four hair ties, so her hair wouldn't get in her face.

Grover wore his fake feet and his trousers to pass as human. He wore a green Rasta-style cap, because when it rained his curly hair flattened and you could just see the tips of his horns. His bright orange backpack was full of scrap metal and apples to snack on. In his pocket was a set of reed pipes his daddy goat had carved for him, even though he only knew two songs: Mozart's Piano Concertono. 12 and Hilary Duff's 'So Yesterday', both of which sounded bad on reed pipes.

Percy didn't have much, only his clothes and a toothbrush. They waved goodbye to the other campers, took one last look at the strawberry fields, the ocean and the Big House, then hiked up Half-Blood Hill to the tallpine tree that used to be Thalia, daughter of Zeus.Chiron was waiting for the four of them in his wheelchair.

Next to him stood Argus, the camp's head of security. He had eyes all over his body so hecould never be surprised. Today, though, he was wearing a chauffeur's uniform,so they could only see extra eyes on his hands, face and neck.
