Monday morning....In a random street in DC....

Olivia's POV :

The car suddenly jerks sideways, leaving me reeling to get it under control. Swearing, I jerk the wheel to the right, but the engine protests get more and more severe with each second until it finally sputters and comes to a halt in the middle of the road, leaving me to groan in frustration.

Ughh... Please....Please.... Start.... Damn it...Start! You stupid car!!

Despite my cursing, the car squeaks and sputters a few times before the engine completely gives out.

Just my luck this morning. Just what I needed!

I open the door again and grab my phone from the passenger seat and slam the door shut only after giving the wheel a hard kick, not that it did any good.

I look around at my surroundings only to find the entire road completely abandoned, with barely any vehicles passing by. The totally deserted road devoid of any humans only makes my growing anxiety worse. I check my phone in hopes of finding a cab. But one look at my phone and that hope goes up in a puff of smoke. I can't get a damn signal in this ghost town.

I really shouldn't have taken this route!! Hell, I shouldn't even have been driving around this city on my own when I don't know a single route to begin with. But my 'I-can-do- everything -on-my-own' stupid ass couldn't take a cab.

I just had to drive by myself, didn't I?

Well anyways, I gotta put a temporary hold on my self-deprecating talk because I have much more pressing concerns to address right now.

Like me getting late for the interview!! I cannot go late to my own interview. Not when I want this job so damn badly!

Praying that by some miracle, some stupid innocent driver decides to drive down this ghost town just like me, I keep looking at the road.

Five... Ten... Fifteen minutes pass by without a single car in sight.

Damn it!! You are so screwed, Livvy!!

I check my phone constantly, hoping to find at least one bar, but no luck there too. The universe really seems to be conspiring against me today! There is no way I'm going to make it in time! Why universe why? Can't I get just one break?

Just when I give up all hope, like a knight in shining armour, well more like a knight in a century-old blue pickup truck, someone heads in my general direction. I almost jump in excitement but think better against it, compose myself, and focus on stopping the truck.

After jumping and hovering all over the road signalling the truck, the driver finally comes to a halt right in front of my car
