Aqua watched as Ian used his pocket knife to clean the fish. It seemed he did it before but not enough times to get a good grasp.

"Sorry, I probably tattered some of the meat." Ian said with a flushed face.

"It's okay, it's better than what I can do since I don't even know how to clean a fish. Did your dad teach you?" Aqua asked.

"Yeah, when I was five well at least that's what I think because, it's one of the things I can first recall. His hands on my hands while we worked to clean the fish. For all the times they had me do it, I never knew why until now." Ian said.

Ian had silently thanked his parents. He wouldn't be able to feed himself and Aqua. Ian looked up at Aqua.

'Is this what dad felt with mom and me.'

A sense of responsibility had washed over him. Imagine if he made enough of a fuss that would out match his parents persistence. He shivered as he thought of not eating tonight. It's not like edible berries was enough of a meal. Now that he thought about the berries, he wouldnt know what berries to get, without his mom beating it into his head. On. Every. Single. Camping trip. Ian stopped the task of cleaning the fish. As he found himself gaining a new sense of appreciation for them.

"Did you need something Ian?"

"Need to thank dad for beating me when I was bad." He said.

Aqua couldn't help but giggle at his epiphany. She watch him resume his job of cleaning the fishes. It took him longer than he would have liked given that it was fairly late at night but finally the fish could be cooked.

"I'm just glad, I had my pocket knife in my pocket." Ian spoke.

Ian had set four cleaned fish out onto the wooden stakes. They weren't particularly appealing as each one had been somewhat mangled but they had been left scale free and lost their unwanted parts. Ian considered it a win as he puffed his chest out in pride. Now he would have to keep track of time.

"Ian, what do you do on your free time?" Aqua asked.

At the very least it would past the time as they waited for their food to cook.

"Me? I usually am doing chores but my mom let's me read her books whenever I'm not doing chores. I like most but don't like some. I also play with my friends on the off chance that we have free time after school." Ian answered.

"Is that so, what are the books that you like to read?" Aqua asked.

"Mysteries and Action. It keeps me interested oh, I like drama, adventure and sometimes history if I actually enjoy what it tries to tell me unless it feels like I'm being talked to by the teacher." Ian answered.

"I like romance, drama, and some action is quite appreciated." Aqua spoke.

Ian eyes lit up.

"You like reading books too?" He asked.

"Very much I have dozen upon dozens of books in my room. I'm sure I'll have something that fits your taste." Aqua stated.

"If you have romance, I probably won't be interested." Ian said.

"What makes you say that?" Aqua asked.

"It's usually the same thing, guy meets girl, they start spending time together, etc, etc, guy does something dumb or girl does something dumb, they have this extra long beating around the bush segment, antagonist always says hi, female holds out hope, male gets himself together, he comes through last second and boom! Happy ending. It becomes repetitive." Ian explained.
