(In Hero's Forge)
As trolls begin to gather in the stands, waiting for the duel that will soon begin. Jim and Toby watch as (y/n) stretches and starts warming up.
"Do you think she's nervous?" Jim asks Toby quietly.
"Wouldn't you be if you were about to duel to the death?" Toby responds just as quietly, they really didn't need (y/n) to hear this conversation before the duel.
"Wait- What!?! To the death?" Jim asks confused. "I thought this was just a rematch."
"That's right you weren't there yesterday." Toby says remembering, "We found out that this is actually a duel to the death, and Draal's really angry."
"Why wouldn't she tell me." Jim said, staring at the girl confused. Surely something as big as this needed to be told to your friend, especially if you might not be there the next day. Was this why she had disappeared at rehearsal?
"I don't think she wanted to worry you." Toby says sadly. He felt really bad for his friend. The girl his best friend had been in love with for years was about to fight a troll to the death and he couldn't to anything to prevent it. "Hey, maybe don't say anything. I don't think she needs this before the fight."
Before Jim can respond (y/n) walks over to them. Before (y/n) can say anything, Jim walks up to her and grabs her shoulders, pulling her into a tight hug. She doesn't say anything, but instead hugs him back. They stay like that for a few minutes, and it felt like everything they needed to say was spoken between them without any words. When they pull back, they smile sweetly but sadly at each other and walk to meet Toby, Blinky, and Aaarrrgghh at the edge of the arena.
Once the stands were full from every troll in Trollmarket, Vendel got to his feet and made the began to speak to the crowd. "Gathered trolling! The Trollhunter has laid a challenge before the son of her predecessor, and you shall all bear witness to the ensuing battle, which will be one for the ages..." then he mutters underneath his breath, "If not remarkably painful and short."
Still having a few minutes before the fight was about to start (y/n) turns to Toby handing him a letter, "Hey I... I want you to have this."
"What's this?" Toby asks taking the letter from her.
"It says everything I want to say." (y/n) says and turns to Jim, "You already have one in you bag, I dropped it off at rehersal today."
Jim reached into his bag and pulled out the letter that (y/n) had left him. He turns to talk to her but is cut off by Toby.
"You promised me tacos."
(y/n) chuckles to herself, "Now is not the time for lunch Tobes."
"Last week, we went for tacos." Toby says pointed around at the three of them, "I paid. You said, 'Next time on me.' You're going to get this letter back unopened after the fight."
Jim joins in, "You're going to get this one back too. Everything you need to tell me, I would prefer you say to me in person."
"And when you get back," Toby says, "we'll get tacos."
(y/n) smiles at the both of them, not know what she'd do without them and pulled them both into a hug, but she could help feeling that this may be her last. "Tacos sound good." She mumbles into Jim's shoulder.
"Draal, son of Kanjigar, son of Tarigar," Vendel starts speaking again. "Draal 'the Destroyer', come forth." As he finishes speaking Draal enters the arena curled into a tight ball and rolling speedily out of his entrance cave which was on the opposite side of (y/n)'s. As Draal appeared spotlights followed him through the arena as the crowd cheered.
