"One hit?"

"Tessa, no!"

"Grover!"

"No!"

With an eye roll, she slumped back down in her seat just as another sandwich was thrown over her head - hitting Grover.

Nancy Bobofit was throwing wads of sandwich that stuck in his curly brown hair, and she knew Percy couldn't do anything back to her because he was already on probation.

The headmaster had threatened him with death by in-school suspension if anything bad, embarrassing, or even mildly entertaining happened on this trip.

Seriously, the trips that the school offered were extremely boring and were very 'educational'.

Tessa Jones, however, was not on probation and was more than happy to sort out the girl. Still, Grover refused to even let her throw the food back to her.

How unfair.

Tessa began to wonder how she had even got in this situation. Then she remembered.

At the beginning of the school year Grover (who had been attending Yancy Academy in search for demigods) had informed Chiron of a potential powerful demigod.

Then, just after October, Chiron disappeared to pretend to be a teacher - something he rarely ever did unless it was serious.

By Christmas time Tessa had been dragged into it all, Chiron claimed it was so Percy could gain some trust and make the transition into a demigod easier.

Still, she wished she didn't have to go. The girl would much prefer being back at Camp and having the Aphrodite cabin doll her up for no reason.

It was a strange friendship, not one many campers would've thought would happen. Considering how the Aphrodite kids all loved the idea of love and her mother's hunters despised the idea it was odd for an Artemis kid to befriend the Aphrodite kids.

Of course there had only ever been one child of Artemis - that child being Tessa, who was all about changing the norms and standing out.

Plus, she didn't exactly like her mother very much.

Percy was an alright kid - in Tessa's opinion - there wasn't much to him, but he was alright. Tessa could tolerate him enough to call him her friend.

"I'm going to kill her," Percy mumbled from the seat behind Tessa.

The daughter of Artemis (though she wished she wasn't), turned around with a light snort. "Trust me, so am I."

Grover tried to calm them down. "It's okay. I like peanut butter." He dodged another piece of Nancy's lunch.

"Nobody likes peanut butter in their hair, Grover."

"That's it." Percy started to get up, but Grover pulled him back to his seat.

"You're already on probation," he reminded him. "You know who'll get blamed if anything happens."

Percy looked at Tessa, his eyes silently pleading with hers to do something. The thirteen year old didn't need much encouragement.
