The next day, word about Percy killing the Minotaur quickly spread around camp - like any gossip did.
"Did he really kill it?" Asked Michael, barging into the cabin.
It was unusual for Tessa to sit in her cabin, never mind be completely alone in it but she had decided to take some time to herself.
Tessa looked up from her book, she was sat criss crossed on her bed. The girl hadn't bothered going to breakfast that morning but she knew word had spread.
All morning she had heard campers walking up and down, talking excitedly about the new campers.
"Morning to you too." She grumbled, flicking her page.
"I'll take that as a yes then," Michael grinned as he entered the cabin, he looked as if he'd just come from his archery lesson - he had a bow over his shoulder and a satchel of arrows. "I heard that he stabbed the Minotaur in the side with his own horn. That really happened?"
With a nod Tessa responded. "Yeah, I think Grover has the bloody thing in a shoe box for him when he wakes up."
"Why on earth does he have it in a shoebox?" Michael questioned, he raised an eyebrow as though he thought it was a very odd choice. "What're you reading anyway?"
He asked, gesturing to the book Tessa held.
"Can't you read the title?" Tessa mused, holding the book up higher. "The Hunger Games."
Michael scoffed at Tessa's reply, he took off his satchel and leant his bow on his bed and then peered at the cover of the book from his position on the other side of the cabin.
"The Hunger Games? I've heard of that one," He admitted, "Is it any good?"
"So far yeah, my dad recommended me it." She admitted, closing the book. "You come here just to ask if the Minotaur thing was true?"
The thirteen year old placed her book on the side. Percy was still passed out from the previous nights events but Annabeth was helping bring him back to health along with some Apollo medics.
"I didn't believe it at first," Michael admitted, "It sounded too unbelievable. Killing a Minotaur with its own horn? I thought someone was messing with me. Then I saw some of my siblings checking him over."
"Well I was there so i can assure you, he did kill it." The daughter of Artemis confirmed as she stood up from her bunk.
"Well, if you were there then I guess it must be true then," Michael replied, though he seemed slightly jealous that Tessa had been there to witness the event. "Did Chiron give you the whole.. no leaving the cabin at night speech?"
Tessa nodded, stood at her bedside table. "Of course he did, the centaurs paranoid I swear."
As she spoke, she flicked through the letters she and her dad had exchanged throughout the years. She had kept every single one of them.
Michael chuckled, "I thought that he'd be used to his campers sneaking out by now. What was your reason though? Was it cause you sensed the Minotaur?" He questioned, sitting on his bunk and watching the other demigod curiously.
The Apollo campers were some of the only demigods Tessa was so open with. Usually, the daughter of Artemis was very closed off. She didn't like speaking about her mother or her abilities but her cousins were an exception to that.
"Yeah, I couldn't sleep either so.." she shrugged, sitting back down on her bed.
Michael seemed to nod thoughtfully, as if understanding her reasoning but then he grinned cheekily, his usual look when he had mischievous thoughts.
