Mae govannon! (Welcome!)

I would like to say a few words before we dive into the story.

First, this is technically my first fanfiction. I have a preference and imagine book as well, but this is my first fanfiction with actual original characters. I do apologize if it seems rough.

Second, as the story progresses, there will be a few times when the chapters are in different points of view. This is because there are some points in the movie (I haven't read the book yet so this is based more off of the movie), that I feel should be in this. Plus, I have two original characters in this book so I will want to make sure that both of their points of view are included.

Third, and most important, I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING INVOLVING J.R.R  TOLKIEN'S WORK. I only own my two characters.

Now, for a bit of some background.

Myrna and Nicole are Dunedain Rangers. They both grew up in a village outside if the Northern Kingdom. When they were five, Nicole's parents were slain in battle against Orcs. Myrna's family then took her in.

As they grew up, the two girls did everything together. When they were 16, they became the best archer and shield maiden of their village. When they were 18, Myrna and Nicole were in Mirkwood creating a peace treaty with Thrandruil when they received word that the Northern Kingdom was destroyed along with all of the surrounding villages. The two girls only had each other since Myrna's family was killed in the battle.

That same night, Nicole grew very close to Legolas. Myrna didn't really like or trust Legolas after that. Both girls ended up staying with the elves of Mirkwood until they were twenty-two.

At that age, Gandalf came to them asking for their assistance, which they both accepted. It took some persuasion but Myrna and Nicole became the 16th and 17th members of the Company of Thorin Oakenshield.

I will not go into much more detail about that journey, but after their adventure, the two sisters parted ways for a while. Nicole returning to Mirkwood and Myrna stayed to help the dwarves rebuild Erebor and Bard rebuild Dale.

It is unknown what Myrna and Nicole's separate adventures entailed but at the age of 82, Gandalf sent word to both girls asking them to meet him at Rivendell for the Council of Elrond.

So there is a little background for you. Some of the events that happened in the girls lives will be explained throughout the story, maybe even the unknown bits.

Now for a real quick description on our two characters.

Myrna, 82, a Dunedain Ranger with blonde hair and green eyes. She prefers to wears trousers and tunics instead of dresses. She also wears a necklace that has an emerald and lapis lazuli embedded into an arrowhead that is attached to a purple-dyed feather.

This necklace was given to Myrna by her mother before she left for Mirkwood to establish the peace treaty. Her mother loved symbols so she hand-picked the gems on the necklace. Emerald to symbolize hope and wisdom and the lapis lazuli symbolizes protection.

Myrna tries to keep herself calm and controlled but she has a short fuse. She does not trust people easily, but she does trust Nicole, the hobbits, and Gimli. She doesn't trust Legolas because she doesn't think he is good enough for her sister. She finds Boromir arrogant and she isn't sure about Aragorn. She can tell that he is destined to be a great leader and she has pledged that she will assist him in any way that she can. Myrna is also very protective of her friends, especially Merry and Pippin as they remind her of her little brothers.

Myrna's weapon of choice is a black and silver bow that belonged to her mother. At night while she keeps watch, Myrna makes more arrows. By doing this, she is able to personalize them by dying the feathers purple. She does this so she can turn her arrows into symbols in honor of her mother. "Friends know where to fine me, and enemies know what's coming," as she would say.

Myrna also has two daggers with rosemary hilts. One has an emerald embedded into one hilt and a lapis lazuli embedded into the other. Myrna's father gave these to her for her tenth birthday.

Myrna also carries a sword that she received from a friend.

Nicole, 82, is also a Dunedain Ranger but with red hair and blue eyes. She also prefers to wear tunics and trousers over dresses.

Nicole's personality matches her hair. She tends to be sarcastic a lot but is a very kind person. The only person she is most annoyed with is Boromir (for reasons that will be explained later). Nicole is rather protective of Myrna, mostly because she is returning the care that Myrna gave when they were younger.

Nicole is best with her sword, Ringul. The dwarves of Erebor also gave her many throwing knives that she has named Souls of Lost Comrades. When those who are closest to her fall (die, basically), she carves their names into one of the hilts of the knives.

Well, mellons, I do believe that is everything I have for an introduction.

Again, I only own Myrna and Nicole. Everything else belongs to J.R.R Tolkien.

Once more, Hannon le for reading this rather lengthy introduction and I hope you enjoy!

I will be updating this book every other Saturday and feel free to check out my 5 Seconds of Summer Preferences and Imagines book!

Namáriė (Farewell)
