"Girl! You look so stunning hello??" You giggle as your best friend, Ivory embraces your excitedly, seeing you come in to her and her fiancé, Gian's home.
You smile feeling her warmth with excitement and love for her recent engagement and now here you were at her engagement party to celebrate the two but you kind of showed up an hour later due to LA traffic and getting champagne for her that she requested.
"Stop it, look at you! Getting engaged and you're glowing all in the face i'm so happy for the two of you..congratulations Ivy." You say as you two pull away and look at one another. Staring at your best friend in pure love you were so happy for her you couldn't believe she was getting married and you'd be her maid of honor. She didn't have the best luck with guys, one light stands, toxic men, until she met Gian at a mutual friend's party.
He immediately was star stricken when he saw Ivory, she was gentle with words and made him happy so he didn't waste another minute getting to know her, 2 years later he asked her the big question and everyone knew it was coming. Even he did when he saw her for the first time.
"Thank you pretty, it means a lot..oou champagne!" She smiled excitedly seeing the requested wine in your hand making you laugh.
"You alcoholic I can't stand you." You joked making her push you playfully.
"Shut up..but come in, enjoy yourself there's catered food and people to meet. I do have to warn you...he's here." Ivory grabs your wrist gently to let you know. You give her a tight lipped smile knowing who she was talking about. Chris, your recent ex and Gian's best friend who's going to be his best man at their wedding.
You both left off on bad terms when he made the random decision after getting the opportunity to move away to Italy for his art, clothing, and fashion career as it took off and wanted you to leave with him. You were of course happy for him but didn't like the idea of him or you leaving. You hated long distance and had your own nursing career to live. There was a huge and long argument back and forth of feelings that were played and you both just decided to go your separate ways.
Haven't spoken in 5 months but you both weren't in the dating game since. Other than how y'all left one another, he loved you deeply and more than any person he's ever loved. He was in love with you and still is but as a man he wouldn't admit to it unless vulnerable.
And you loved him just as much. He showed you so many ways to love and he always went over board with love and spoiling you. Bare minimum was never thought of ever in the relationship. Your mother loved him and same for his mother with you, all his friends loved how you impacted him. It just wasn't meant to be.
To say you heart dropped when you heard Ivory say that he was here but you had a feeling he was considering Gian and him were practically inseparable so you prepped yourself incase. "Ivy, you don't have to warn me.. I'm grown I can handle my own."
