Time skip to 4 hours later

Now, the restaurant was about to close and Forky was cleaning up, still high off the love he felt for Soup when an angry looking knife walked in. He was wearing a leather jacket over his jacked arms. He sauntered in like he owned the place, though by the look of his shoes he probably didn't even own his own house. If he had a house.

The knife man looked at Forky, who was lamely cleaning the floors with a tiny mop. The knife man walked up to Forky and handed him and crisp Benjamin. He swept the invisible dirt off Forky's shoulders and said, "Keep the change."

Forky wanted to mention that the knife man looked like he couldn't afford to waste money on food service workers who probably made more than him. But, because the knife man would probably put Forky's head through the wall, he didn't.

A moment later, Soup came down the stairs and gave Knife Man a disgusted look. Knife Man was oblivious to this look and gave her a thumbs up.

"You ready for our date?" Knife Man said in a scruffy voice.

"Sure." Soup said as deadpan as she could.

Even a raccoon could tell that Soup was not interested in Knife Man, and that Knife Man was too interested in getting his parents off his back to care about Soup as more than a fiancèe.

Unfortunately, Forky had the people skills of an orange crayon and after the words "date" and "sure" were said, he was convinced that this was the love of Soup's life. Red jealousy flooded Forky's vision before it was immediately followed by sadness. Soup deserved the world, and there was no way that Forky could ever measure up to that.

On the other hand, Knife Man looked like he was an arsonist so maybe Forky had some chance.

On the third hand, as Forky watched Soup and Knife Man walk out of the shop he saw Knife Man's car. It was sleek and black and fast and must have cost a fortune. Which means that Knife Man probably owned many houses and the Benjamin he gave Forky was nothing. Nothing, just like Forky.
