The sun shone through the doors glass window, casting an enchanting glow on the page Eleanor had been coloring on. Eleanor laid on the ground infront of the door, finding it warm and comfortable. She was coloring in her new Spongebob coloring book. Her momma, Cassie, had got her for eating up all her dinner, even the disgusting broccoli.

Eleanor had a plethora of crayons in all different colors, she had always liked drawing. It calmed her down, well most of the time. Eleanor didn't like when she would accidentally color out of the lines, she would immediately get mad, thinking the whole drawing had been ruined by her simple mistake.

Thankfully, her coloring had been perfect so far, she had the colors she needed and she hadn't colored outside of the lines yet. She was coloring a picture of Spongebob catching jelly fish. Eleanor hummed a tune while coloring, fully concentrated on the page infront of her.

Her momma had been sitting on the couch in the living room behind her, watching the news. The TV suddenly gave off an annoying ring, startling Eleanor, causing her to jerk her hand. Eleanor's drawing had been ruined. Eleanor clenched her jaw, dropping the crayons in her hand. She grabbed the book in a fit of anger, ripping out the page she had messed up, then she picked up the book, throwing it across the room.

Eleanor wanted to scream, but all she did was huff. She had started counting and taking deep breaths, thats what Ms. Sarah had taught her for when she was really angry. Eleanor liked Ms. Sarah, she was really nice to her.

Cassie watched as the TV suddenly made a loud ringing noise, the news suddenly flashing with new information. The news man had started to speak about an outbreak, people had become aggressive and started to turn on each other. "𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫, 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞." Cassie called for Eleanor.

Eleanor's lip trembled, thinking she got in trouble. She didn't like getting in trouble, it made her feel like she swallowed a baseball. She swallowed hard, trying to get rid of the lump in her throat. She stood up slowly.

Cassie noticed her daughter stand up slowly. "You're not in trouble, I promise." She said

Eleanor sighed in relief. The lump slowly sinking down, down into her stomach and dissolving. She walked over to her mother, soon standing right next to her. "Yes momma?" Eleanor questioned

Cassie turned toward her daughter, grabbing her hands. Cassie then sighed. "I need you to go and pack your things, only necessary things please."

Eleanor furrowed her brows. "But momma." Eleanor whined

"Please, Eleanor?" Cassie asked trying to keep calm. Cassie watched Eleanor walk to her room, once she saw her daughter enter the room, she stood up. She walked to the kitchen and grabbed her car keys.

Eleanor huffed and turned around, walking to her room. She walked into her room and headed over to her closet. She opened the closet door, an excessive amount of Barbie's and stuffed animals pilling on the floor of the closet. She grabbed her Lightning McQueen backpack that she used last year when she went to the zoo, out of the pile of toys.

Eleanor put the backpack on her bed. She walked over to her dresser and picked out clothes she liked. She packed the clothes into the bag. I need ta' grab my brush and toothbrush too. Eleanor started to walk to the bathroom. "Lavey!" Eleanor forgot about her favorite stuffed animal.

She turned around in the doorway, grabbing the toy off of her bed. Okay..now I can get the stuff from the bathroom. Eleanor walked out of her room, walking into the bathroom right outside her room. She grabbed her, and her mom's toothbrush and brush.

While Eleanor had been packing, Cassie had started the car and took the unnecessary things out of the back. She walked back inside. Cassie walked into the kitchen packing a duffel bag of canned goods. Then, Cassie walked into her room, packing clothes for all weathers.

Eleanor walked out of the bathroom and into the living room. "Momma?" She called out.

Cassie had just finished packing when she heard her daughter call for her. "I'm in my room sweetheart!" Cassie picked up her packed bag and walked out of her room and into the living room with her daughter. "You ready?" Cassie questioned.

Eleanor thought for a minute, imagining a checklist in her head. Check, check, check, and check. "I'm ready momma." Eleanor looked up at her mother. "Where are we goin' anyway?" Eleanor complained.

Cassie put on a little smile. "Something's happenin' outside and we have ta' find somewhere safer than here, alright?" Cassie watched her daughter's reaction, hoping she wouldn't ask any questions.

Eleanor scrunched up her face, biting the inside of her cheeks. "Alright." Eleanor said. Cassie grabbed her daughter's hand and lead them outside. Cassie grabbed both Eleanor's packed bag and hers and put them in the trunk. She put Eleanor in the backseat behind her.

Eleanor still had to use a booster seat, not yet meeting the weight and height requirement to not have one. She sat in the seat and buckled up. Cassie got into the drivers seat, starting the car. Then they drove off into the chaotic roads filled with angry and panicked people, people trying to find a safe place just like them.

Cassie hadn't gotten very far before getting stuck in traffic. It seemed like everyone had the same plan as her, find somewhere safe. Cassie furrowed her eyebrows looking in the rearview mirror at Eleanor. Cassie bit at her lip, making the decision of either staying in the car or trying their luck on foot. She had made her decision.

Cassie stopped the car, leaving the keys, maybe someone would need it. She had decided to leave the car and try to get somewhere safe on foot. "Eleanor? Let's go hun." Cassie said as she opened up her car door. Eleanor widened her eyes, what are we doin'? Eleanor unbuckled and opened her door.

Cassie helped Eleanor out of the car then she opened up the trunk, getting out the duffle bag and Eleanor's bag. She put the duffle bag around her shoulder and handed Eleanor her bag. Eleanor looked up at her mother, confusion showing on her face. "We're gonna have ta' walk on foot, the traffic's too bad to wait out." Cassie told her daughter clearing the confusion written on her face.

Eleanor liked walking so she didn't mind that much. "M'kay." She said. They both didn't get very far before being called out to. "Excuse me, but do you know what's happening?" A woman with black hair had asked them. She had a little boy with her and a tall man. Cassie scanned them for a moment. "No, all I know is what the people said on the news."
Cassie replied.

The woman hummed, "We watched the news also, they didn't give much information." Cassie nodded her head, and held her daughter close. "My names Cassie, and this is my daughter Eleanor." Cassie said. The woman smiled at Eleanor, also holding her boy close. "Lori, my boys name is Carl and this is Shane." The woman spoke.

The two groups decided to stick together, finding more and more people. Now they just needed to find a safe place to stay.
