Duke's POV

I don't know if our plan will work or if we can all get out of the train alive, but I want to save my mother, even if my life is the replacement.

We get down from the roof silently and check the train station for any nearby zombies.

"Clear!" Louis said.

"No zombies coming!" Trevor added.

"This way!" I informed them.

We stand on a huge rock, surveying eight trains in the distance.

Suddenly, a beggar appears out of nowhere.

"Do you see people out there? It's nothing because they all turned into zombies," the beggar said, and laughed.

"Don't mind that crazy man; he's a pillock, really stupid!" Allie said.

"I know everything. I know the woman you want to rescue!" The beggar grinned.

"I saw him before; he's been living here near the railways even before the zombie outbreak happened," I informed them.

"I've been watching you since you arrived here. Maybe I can help. I know it's your mother, the nurse, the one you waited for on the roof. But she didn't come out, did she?" the beggar said.

"This man is a real spy!" Trevor said.

"You know everything!?" I asked the beggar.

"Yeah, your mother helped me when I got stuck on the railways and got severe wounds. I thought I would die that day, but luckily she treated me without hesitation. A good woman indeed!" the beggar said.

When he said that, I realized how dedicated my mother is to helping others, regardless of their status in life. I love and am proud of her always.

"So, if she's still alive, maybe it's time to help her out!" the beggar added.

"Do you have a plan?" the beggar asked rhetorically.

"Yes, we have a plan!" Allie responded.

"Of course you do, but how firm is your plan? You don't know when and how the trains move here, the railways, the safest route, the broken windows, and the bait!" the beggar said.

"I got goosebumps when he said that!" Allie said.

"Can you help us?" I asked him.

"Yeah, on one condition!" the beggar said.

"Looks like this man is good at negotiation!" Trevor said.

"What is it?" I asked him.

"You will treat me to lunch later, after all this!" the beggar said and smiled.

Maggie's POV

Trevor's House

We came back to Trevor's house with the supplies and an old computer. I set it up, and luckily the computer is still functioning, but there's some difficulty locating a signal.

I want to email my Uncle Greg, hoping he can see it, read it, and reply.

I'm starting to write an email...

Dear Uncle Greg,

I hope you're still out there, living and surviving. Charlie and I miss you so much. We're looking forward to meeting you in Texas.

I know you're worried about us, but we are planning to come to Texas as soon as possible. I hope you can help us come to the safe zone in Arizona.
