I pace back and forth, what am I going to do? I frown as my stomach turns. This person has a plausible story, but is it a true one? I groan and look at Aella.
"What do I do? This guy put a trap in the Orc territory, then claimed it was for his own safety...And Haruk wants me to decide his fate!" I whine. Aella's been listening to me pace all day, my head's been spinning, and walking seems to be the only way to help."Have you integrated this person yet?" She asks.
I stop pacing and my heart races, I can't believe I didn't think of that! I should talk with the suspect, if I can get an idea of what exactly he was doing out there than I should be able to cast a sentence on him. I bite my lip and head to the bedroom doors, flinging them open and looking to one of the guards.
"Take me to the cellars, I'd like to speak with who is responsible for the traps that harmed my familiar," I demand. The guards look at one another shocked, they must not be used to a woman asking to go to a cellar."My lady...The cellars aren't a place for you."
I scoff and roll my eyes, fine, if they do not want to take me then I'll take myself, I may get lost a few times, but eventually I'll find my way there, after all, a cellar is usually down in the basement, so all I have to do is to keep going down. I quickly turn on my heels and start walking off, the guards quickly rush up to me.
"Please, the king will get very upset if we were to take you down there, at least take it up with him first." One of the guards pleaded. I stopped and turned to look at the guards, Aella stood behind them, she was almost as tall as them, slightly taller even. I think about his suggestion for a moment and nod my head, he's probably right, I don't want to get them into trouble because I want to go somewhere they clearly feel uncomfortable taking me to.I stand before Haruk as he sits at his desk, he looks at me as if I went crazy. "You want to go down to the cellars and question the prisoner?" He asks again, still in disbelief.
"Yes, you were able to question him, or your guards at least got to, I also want to, if I can just set my eyes on who is responsible, and watch their body language as they speak, I can get a better feel for what I should do." I plead.
Haruk sighs heavily and places his hand against his mouth, contemplating, I swallow and look down to the floor, asking him might not be a good idea, if he says no, I'll have no other choice but to go anyway."Alright, I don't see why not." He says.
I look up at him shocked, did he just say yes, but the guards made it sound like it was absolutely taboo for a woman to be in the cellars. I blinked at Haruk for a moment, his answer gave me whiplash with how fast he agreed.
"Gurok, Holut...take my mate down to the cellars to question the prisoner, make sure nothing happens to her, if I find so much as a single cut on her, you both will be whipped in the square." He demands. I swallow the lump in my throat that kept forming with each word, why does he have to be so cruel? I could feel the guards behind me tense up, they bowed and opened the door for me. Haruk smiled at me with some sort of mixture of cocky and proud. I turn away from him hesitantly. The guards escorted me to the cellars, the temperature down here seemed to lower a few degrees, I could see my own breath that's how cold it got, I looked to the doors as I walked down the stairs, Aella took up the whole stairwell, it was rather amusing, she was willing to push herself through here, just to stay with me. The guards walk in front of me, they held a ball of fire in their hand as we descended, it's extremely dark down here, that I'm nervous that I won't see a step and trip, luckily I won't have far to fall since the guards are in front of me unless they fall with me. I can't use night vision with their balls of fire brightening the tight stairwell, so im stuck relying on the flicker of their fire.
once we were down the long stairs we walked to an Iron door, one of the guards placed his hand against the door, a white symbol suddenly appeared and disappeared, then the door swung open with a loud eerie creek, loud shouting was suddenly heard inside, along with the sound of something metal being banged against iron, as I walk in, I see what the noise was. Prisioners are banging cups against their cell bars. However, after one sight of me, they all started cat calling, I roll my eyes and blush slightly, back in my old life, I was never cat called.
