(Four months later)
I look around the room cautiously, the whole room is filled with the towns people, all waiting in line to speak with their king about their problems in the town, or issues they are having with their homes or crops. Since I was given the "Okay" to marry Haruk I now have to practice being queen, which mainly means planning balls, doing light work for the village, and sitting with the king as he listens to the towns people.
I could sense some disturbance in the room, a lot of the town does not approve of me being here, and I don't blame them, but I hope in time they'll see past my human nature and welcome me as their queen. The outfit I was placed in was also very uncomfortable and it only added to the unease I feel. They had me in some kind of flowy silk dress that has slits on each side of my thighs, exposing most of my legs. They also had lots of jewels on me as well, bracelets made of silver and gold, a necklace made from diamonds, even a crown in my half braided hair. I also wore a mesh mask that tied behind my head and had gems around the top. The mask is very beautiful the mesh is gold and even though there are gems adorned around the edge of the mask, it sits against my nose comfortably and it doesn't hurt, In my previous world, this would remind me of similar clothing that Jasmine would wear.
I look to Haruk as he talks with an Orc villager, he speaks about his crops sweltering and not able to fully grow, his family is starving and they can't figure out what ills their crops. Haruk listens intently trying to figure out what could be the issue.
"How firm is the soil?" I ask suddenly, the Orc stops speaking and looks to me surprised that I spoke, even Haruk looks surprised for a moment before he smiles softly, waiting to see how I'd do.
"Um...well, I guess it's a little firm, but that doesn't stop the crops from growing." He spits out, I nod my head, that is true, if the crops are still growing then the roots are at least taking to the soil. But then again if the ground is too firm that would mean that the plants roots aren't getting enough oxygen and could also be root rot.
I would need to see the earth in order to figure out how firm this man is talking. He might be able to do a top garden bed, where he could build his own ground for the crops."I believe your ground might be too hard for your crops to substantially grow, if the earth is too firm then the oxygen it needs to grow could be cut off, also if the soil is too firm it'll cause poor drainage, which can cause root rot, which prevents your crops from growing to maturity. I suggest making a garden bed for your crops." I tell the Orc.
he looks at me confused as if I just said some kind of witch craft, but as I look to Haruk he gives me a warm smile.
"A...A garden bed will help you control the firmness of your soil, the oxygen, and the drainage for your plants, and with making your own bed you'll be able to choose what type of soil you can use, and different soil has different nutrients for plants." I say strongly as I look to the Orc, he looks back to Haruk but all he does is raise a brow.
"I agree with my queen." Haruk announces to the orc that had given him an uncertain look, but soon bows and moves away for the next person to come along.
We spent what felt like an eternity in that throne room, giving folks advise and listening to their problems. Haruk sighs as he leans against his desk, his hands running through his hair. I smile softly at him and place my hand on his shoulder.
"I guess the weight and burdon of a king is heavy." I say with a soft chuckle, he scoffs and sits back in his chair, pulling me onto his lap. I gasp softly, losing my balance for a moment before steadying myself on his lap.
