I smile widely as we walk through the town, I enjoy looking at all of the vendors selling their hard work and goods, I want to visit that clothing store again, and buy some more clothes suited more for me. I swear if I'm put in one more frilly dress I'm going to lose it. I guess any Orc or even human in this world would kill to be put in all these fine gowns, but I just can't stand it; the tight corset, the bone skirt poofer thing, the horrible noisy fabric, its all just ugh!
"My lady, are you sure you want to be out here, it's not safe for someone of your status to be walking around out here." Hellen protests. She agreed to come along with me, but I can tell that she's uneasy about us being in town, but I'm not, I'm glad to be out of that cold stuffy castle. Besides, I have two catsle Guards, and Aella. If anyone were to even try anything stupid they'd either be arrested, or killed on sight."Don't worry Hellen, we'll be fine, besides, if I'm stuffed in that castle any longer I'm going to go insane, just pacing the halls and dining alone... it's suffocating...and depressing," I tell her.
Hellen sighs and remains quiet, I know that there are dangers in every town, especially for a queen-to-be like me...but I need to get to know this town, especially if I'm going to rule it one day. I suddenly feel Aellas head push against my arm, I look up to her and smile but my smile fades when I see her looking away, I stop walking and look in her direction.
In an alley near a few wooden boxes, a child sits crying, clenching her doll. I look around, but everyone seems to just ignore the child and keep walking, my heart sinks at the sight, and without thinking I walk over to the little girl. I pull up my dress and sit in front of her, she scurries back clearly terrified, I hold my hands up quickly and shush her gently."Hey little one, are you lost? I'm not going to hurt you I promise." I say to her as I gently reach out and wipe the tears away from her face. The little girl trembles in front of me and nods her head slightly. I frown and tuck her hair behind her ear.
"Were you here with your mommy or daddy?" I ask.
"M-My mommy." She says through sobs.
"Do you know where you last saw her?" I ask softly.
The little girl shakes her head and holds her doll closer to her, I sigh and stand up, picking up the little girl in the process, she clings to me as if I was a lifeline. Hellen looks at me in shock and so do the guards. I roll my eyes and look to Aella who seems to be the only one to not look at me as if I just did something unthinkable. Aella wags her tail and sniffs the child.
"We're going to find her mom," I tell Hellen. Her eyes instantly widen and she gets closer.
"My lady, I strongly advise against this, we don't know this child, this could be some kind of trap...there are dangers in this town, you can't trust anyone, including children." She says strongly.
"Hellen, if you're going to disagree with everything I'm going to be doing today, then you can head back to the castle," I argue. Hellen immediately goes mute and takes a step back. I turn and look back to the two guards with me, they say nothing but I can tell they also don't agree with my decision. But I don't care, if this is a trap they wouldn't be able to do much, and with how hard this little girl is clinging to me I highly doubt she's any threat. I turn my attention back to the guards.
"Is there anywhere we can take her?" I ask them.
One nods before speaking.
"There should be a guild not too far from here, we can take her there and let them know that we found her lost on the street." He says pointing down the road. I nod my head and begin to walk. The little girl holds onto me tightly as we head to the guild, Aella stays close to my side, I can tell she's keeping an eye out for any trouble, and her being this close means she too suspects something will happen.
