Alexander was sick in bed. Thomas, his secret lover, encouraged him to stay home from work because of his condition. "What's more important: the government or your health?" he said. "Washington can do without his secretary for a few days while he's out ILL!" he said. Oh, and let's not forget, "If you show up to work I will personally pound you, Hamilton."
So yeah, Alexander was bedridden. He'd been sneezing and coughing. His head ached. His nose ran.
Some time around 7pm, Thomas broke into Alexander's house. Per usual. He does this a lot. He brought medicine from a local doctor which was in a brown bag. "Hamilton?" he queried, walking to the back of the house. Alexander groaned in response. Thomas peered into his room. "Greetings, feddy." he said as he glanced at the federalist, leaning on the door frame. Alexander was facing away on his side.
"I.. told you—" Alexander started with a croaky voice, coughing afterward. "..to stop calling me 'feddy', you idiot." he concluded, turning around and facing Thomas.
Thomas' eyebrows raised as he saw the man lying before him. "Hamilton- You look like death." he muttered, taking a few steps into the room with tapping noises coming from his cane.
"Yeah. Almost like I'm sick." Alexander croaked, sarcastically, as he looked up at the man in his room. Thomas giggled as he sat on Alexander's bed and he took the medicine out of his little bag. Alexander had his eyes on it. "That the medicine?" Alexander questioned. Thomas nodded.
As Thomas took a spoon out of the bag and opened the small bottle of syrup, Alexander's eyes narrowed. "How do I know this isn't just poison, Jefferson?" he asked, in a muttering tone. Thomas blinked at him. "Why on God's green Earth would I poison you?" he responded, dipping the spoon into the medicine.
Alexander coughed. "Where'd you get it?" he asked, messing with the lace on his robe.
Thomas sighed. "I got it from the local physician down the road, darlin'." he stated in an almost judgmental tone.
"Who?" Alexander pried.
"Mr. Parks." Thomas responded, holding the spoon up to Alexander's mouth. "Now please. Take your medicine."
Alexander glanced up at Thomas with drowsy eyes, then he looked at the medicine and shook his head. "No."
"Hamilton- What do you mean no?! Take your medicine!" Thomas demanded, in a quiet but frantic tone. He put the spoon up against Alexander's mouth. Alexander swatted it away and it got on his bedsheets.
"Oh, my God." Thomas groaned.
Alexander sat up and he clenched his pounding head. Faint hums of discomfort were heard from Alexander. Thomas shook his head. "This medicine'll make your headache go away, Hamilton." He assured, dipping the spoon into the syrup once more and holding it up to Alexander.
Alexander gave in and he took the spoon in his mouth, begrudgingly drinking the medicine and sticking his tongue out afterwards.
Thomas sighed, relieved. Alexander gave him a smug look. "Worried about me?" he questioned Thomas. Thomas rolled his eyes. "A lil bit." he admitted. Alexander's gaze softened for a second before he put his guard back up. Thomas cleared his throat. "Good thing you took your medicine, 'cause I was just about ready to force it down your throat." Thomas added, poking Alexander's face. Alexander swatted Thomas' hand away and he scoffed, rubbing his neck afterward from the pain.
Thomas took a long look at the pale, sickly man before him and he looked a little sentimental about it. Almost concerned. Alexander glanced back at Thomas and he narrowed his eyebrows. "What'cha lookin' at?" Alexander asked. Thomas snapped out of his trance. "Nothin'." Thomas replied.
