The next few days were a blur of emotions. Every time I tried to focus on work or spend time with friends, Jadon's words echoed in my mind. Our past weighed heavily on me.

I tried to immerse myself in my routine. Early mornings at the gym, long hours at the office, and evenings spent with Chloe and Gio. Yet, even in the company of friends, I felt his presence lingering, like an unwelcome shadow.

One evening, I decided to visit a local coffee shop. I needed a change of scenery, something to distract me from the turmoil inside my head. As I settled into a corner with my laptop editing my latest video, I couldn't help but glance around, half-expecting Jadon to walk in. Wouldn't surprise me if he followed me all the way here.

To my surprise, he didn't. Instead, a familiar face approached me—Jacob, an old friend back in England. We had lost touch over the years, but seeing him now brought a smile to my face. He also looked more attractive than I remember, he looked more muscular and fit than he did before.

"Imani, is that you?" he asked, his eyes lighting up with recognition.

"Jacob! Wow, it's been ages," I replied, genuinely happy to see him. "Come, sit down here."

We caught up on each other's lives, reminiscing about the good old days. It was a refreshing change from the constant stress and emotional upheaval I had been dealing with. For a while, I felt like my old self again.

"So, what are you doing here in Germany? I thought you were settled back in London." I asked.

"I'm visiting a friend, I was just on my way back to my hotel and wanted to grab a coffee on the way. I did not expect to see you though." Jacob said.

As we kept talking I could feel some chemistry. We were both being a little flirty.

"So, how long are you staying in Germany?" I asked, sipping my coffee while making eye contact with him.

"A few weeks. I'm currently unemployed so I thought Dortmund could be a nice change of scenery for a bit, to find myself, you know." he said.

"Yeah, I get that." I said.

"So what do you work as?" he asked.

"I actually work with Borussia Dortmund, the football club." I replied.

"Really? That's sick." Jacob said.

"I'm a part of the PR and media team, I help promote the club."

We talked for hours, slipping into an easy rhythm. Jacob had always been easy to talk to, and the years apart seemed to melt away as we shared stories and laughter. It was a welcome distraction, and for the first time in days, I felt genuinely relaxed.

After a while, we seperated ways, but agreed to meet up again soon.

Jadon's POV:

"Fuckk!" I said, dissapointed.

"What is it?" Gio asked. I come over to Gio and Chloe's place sometimes, when Imani is not there.

"Her Instagram. She's with someone." I said, showing him the post.

"Well, it's not like she fell in love again when she saw you." Gio said. "You have a lot of work to do, bro."

"Fuck this shit, I need a drink." I said.

"Well, you can't have one. You won't do well on the pitch if you start drinking." Gio said.

"Trust me, I know that." I said. "But it's not worth it if I can't have her."

"Why did you guys break up, then?" Gio asked.

"I was scared. So fucking scared. It got even worse when I left for Manny. I realised how much she actually meant to me. I tried so hard to get over her, but nothing worked." I admitted. "Then, I started getting benched and I got depressed. Over time, I started drinking more and more to forget about her for a moment."

"Jadon..." Gio said.

"I know I was a fool. I probably won't win her back. But I have to try." I said. "Rehab and therapy really helped me, and I love her too much to let her go."

Gio nodded in understanding, his expression softening with empathy. "I'm glad you recognize that, Jadon. It takes courage to admit your mistakes and take steps to make things right."

"I just wish I could turn back time, you know? Undo all the damage I've done," I sighed, the weight of my regrets pressing down on me like a lead blanket.

"Why not just try to be completly honest with her? Tell her about your struggles. maybe she will understand." Gio suggested. "Because she probably feels like you never loved her."

"That's a good idea, mate. I'll talk to her at the annual winter gala." I said.
