Ever since I was still in high school, my life has been pretty uneventful.
"Is it time for exams again?" I thought, looking at my calendar.
I have friends, but we mostly study every day to get ready for the exams.
"Can't hang out right now, I have a test tomorrow." I told them.
"Same here. Goodluck." Lilia said, also leaving the lunch table.
"See ya." Tails said, not even looking up from his textbook.
While my parents aren't that strict when it comes to my grades, I felt the need to compete with my peers since studying hard for a good life has already been ingrained in my mind ever since I was little.
....
But sometimes, when I am bored of studying, I go to my room and lock my door before I go to Utube. There, I watch my favorite videos. Specifically, the videos of my favorite boy group.
"Hi! We are Daydream!"
My eyes sparkled as I saw my favorite member of Daydream, Mau, introduce himself to the camera. Yes, while I might seem serious and bored of life on the outside, I secretly am a fanboy of the group Daydream. I have been following their journey ever since they won the chance to debut, especially Mau; he has always been my favorite since day one. I can't help it; he's talented, caring, gorgeous, and very kind! Who couldn't help but love him?
I remember when it was the day of my exam. I bolted out of the exam room after answering the exam paper because I needed to watch the final performance of Mau before the winners were announced. A year later, I'm in college, and my favorite group is now part of the leading boy groups in the idol industry. Time flies, but I hate it for me now more than ever.
Maybe it's because, on top of the never-ending assignments and quizzes, our ex-student council president dropped his position after being involved in a scandalous party. This was, of course, hidden by the school so as not to let the school's morale and reputation drop even more. And because he has decided to go to that party, I am now the Student Council President. I cried inside when my mother and the vice president told me that I would be the president since I got the second most votes in last month's election. I mean, I only entered the election to have something on my resume.
But I have never assumed that things would turn out this way.
...
Perhaps I'll have to rewatch Mau's videos once again to make myself feel better.
"Ugh! I'm in the nursing department, but I feel like I'll be a patient soon before I'll even get to be a nurse!" Lilia complained as she rested her head on the table. "Same here; I still need to do eight more plates for my major. I'm going to die early if they decide to add one more." Tails also complained, gulping down food while also finishing his work at the same time. I picked up my food and also worried about how I was going to be able to finish all of my essays later while still needing to study for my three tests tomorrow. "Yeah. If the vice president gives me more work to do, I'll drop dead later," I told them. This lunch break was the only time we got to hang out this month.
"This assignment is due tomorrow at 8 a.m.!"
"The two essays are due by midnight."
"This group project is worth half of your grade, so do this seriously. It is due by next week."
I sighed and sat down on my chair, ready to do another all-nighter tonight. I turned on my laptop and was going through all of my tabs when the title of the news caught my eye: "Daydream member Mau is going on a hiatus. Reasons are still unknown." I read it out loud, and I could feel my whole world drop. "A hiatus?? Why??" I exclaimed and quickly looked at the comments on the news page. Some comments were jokes, some people were concerned, some were shocked, and some trolls were happy that Mau was going on a break.
