I felt edgy inside of the cave, I could hear something breathing. Something large was hiding itself in the shadows, its breathing pattern suggested it was sleeping but things could wake up unexpectedly. I glanced at Requim and he nodded, he could hear it too.
It wasn't just the wind in the caves. Something was in here with us, I looked around at all of the kids around me and frowned. I sighed and shook it off, moving in front of one of the cave entrances, I un-holstered Nina and Nona pointing their gleaming barrels at the ground, my shoulders stiff as I waited. I hated waiting, tensed and quiet as if waiting for the bad things to happen.
I took a step into the mouth of my Cave and heard something roaring, the breathing had changed! I saw the flash of light and jumped to the side away from the cave's mouth as a large fireball came barrelling out. My eyes went wide and my heart soared, was it really what I thought it was.
A childish glee filled me, but my animal mind screamed at me, I had just been attacked unprecedented and unprovoked. I shut my eyes pressed against the rock waiting for it to appear, I would wait for it to appear and then I would deal with it my way. I opened my eyes as the breathing grew closer, I looked down at the Dragon, my eyes growing wide in fear and happiness.
Looking at the large beast as it moved forward with such beautiful grace and agility. I rolled my lips nervously, my guns were already drawn. In a way I had already committed to killing it. The threat was there. It had fired first. But that lingering feeling still stuck in my head. As a child I had played with the Sqwar dragons in the Regar woods just outside the palace walls.
I still had claw marks on my arms and memories of burns from when they would get upset at me. I slowly began to lower Nina and Nona, I looked at its face, the crisp yellow eyes watched me closely. I wanted to keep it, I wanted it. That was the only thought in my head, was that childish voice screaming out 'I want it, I want it, I want it!' while in the middle of a temper tantrum. I shut my eyes tightly again listening to it attacking the others, I gritted my teeth.
"Cee... There is no way you are going to play with that thing" Requim growled from behind me.
My ears dropped and I had to take a deep breath raising Nina and Nona back up criss-crossing them and looking down the barrel at the Dragon. My heart sank in my chest, I didn't want to watch such a magnificent creature die.
"Mhercee Kill it!" Nat cried out desperately.
I cursed under my breath and looked up at it, such a beautiful creature couldn't be taken from this life. I couldn't do it but it would kill us if I didn't.
"What the hell are you waiting for! Shoot it!" Paz screamed at me.
My hands tightened on the guns and i closed my eyes, "Damnit" I cursed softly.
"Cee, Iyp Nok Draconian. Iyp Rem Ghet!" 'Cee, Kill the Dragon. Kill it now!' Requim snapped at me.
My eyes opened and I raised my arms up shooing at the Stalactites that dangled from the ceiling. They crashed down sliding off of the hardened scales of the Dragon and crashing to the floor sending more magma shoot up at us.
"What the hell!" Paz snarled at me jumping away from the magma.
I spun the guns sliding them back into the holsters and moving back into the cave, I shook my hands and let out a deep breath. I looked up and could see the spiked spine of the dragon, I would find a way to get the clue without killing the dragon. I ran from the tunnel leaped up at the tail, I hit the hard scales and the breath was pushed out from my lungs. I cursed softly forcing in a breath as the heat swelled up around me.
"Read the Clue again Nat!" I shouted over the darkening hum of the lava, and deep throated growl of the Dragon.
I grabbed hold of the slick black scales feeling the sharp bite as they cut through my skin. I pulled myself up its back slowly feeling the harsh burn of the melted rock spitting up and landing on my skin. I paused after not hearing the clue again and turned to look at her my ears pressed back against my head.
