"That's it. She's been gone for over an hour now. It shouldn't take that long to get food. She's probably lost." Nat worried, pacing back and forth wringing her hands nervously.
“It can’t be helped, If Paz wanted to leave she was gonna leave" I muttered rolling my eyes.
I could really care less what happened to her, but I needed the clues and there was no way I could get them on my own. It pained me to admit I needed their help, but I did.
"Let's just go and find the next clue. We'll be better off without the runt to worry about" Mhercee hissed.
"I agree with Mhercee. We don't have a clue where she is. We have to continue. We can't just wait here. Chances are we’ll stumble upon her in the woods. I say we move out," Requim replied.
"But she did help us defeat the dragon" Nat said, weighing the pros and cons out loud.
"Your right. Still that’s all she helped us out with" Mhercee complained.
Requim shook his head stepping up behind Mhercee; I raised an eyebrow at the closeness between the daemons.
"She did help us unlock the clue" He said adding in.
I scoffed laying back on the grass, "Ya barely and she nearly drowned herself doing it too"
"The point is she has helped" Requim started, but was stopped when Mhercee pressed her palm to his face pushing him backwards.
He grumbled something under his breath and glared at her, "Past tense, she did help. Now she's stopping us."
"Alright, Jaeson" I sat up slowly looking at Nat, "What’s your vote?"
I pursed my lips and gave a dry laugh, "Vote? Didn’t know this was a democracy"
She rolled her eyes at me but didn’t say anything, with a heavy sigh I pushed to my feet dusting my pants off.
"I say we move on, one less person to worry about." I said.
They all turned to look at each other exchanging glances, they nodded in unison and Nat turned to look back at me.
"Alright, let’s move out" She said in a commanding voice.
We collected up our things and began our trek through the forest, the sunlight streamed through the canopy sending light warm rays of sun to dapple the forest floor. Birds chirped and flew through the green leaves and branches. Other animals scurried away from us hiding under the brush; the forest was lively and friendly.
"So what do you guys think about the clue?" Nat asked stepping over a gnarled root that jutted from the ground.
We all glanced at her but kept moving, "Well it mentions something about a drowning sun" Requim said shrugging his shoulders.
I paused frowning at the ground, "Drowning sun? How would you drown a sun?" I hissed and continued walking.
"It could have something to do with a large body of water" Nat answered my question with a roll of her eyes.
I pointed at her, "You do that a lot"
She paused turning to look at me narrowing her dark brown eyes at me, "What?"
I smiled and kept walking, "Nothing, forget it" I laughed walking past her.
"Do you know any large bodies of water up here?" Mhercee asked walking over to us not caring about the bushes she stomped to death.
"Uh, yeah there’s the Atelian Sea. I guess you could say it technically swallows the sun at sunset" she said.
I looked through the tree's my eyes scanning the identical standing poles, nothing moved nothing made a sound. Not even the soft brush of leaves in the warm afternoon breeze broke the silence that had settled.
