The cool autumn air caressed the young woman's tan skin
as she made her way down the street. She was headed to her friend and "rivals" Apothecary shop. Her and Rebecca had been friends since they were little girls, both highly interested in herbology be it for different reasons. While Karee wanted to study the art of natural medicine to fallow the traditional ways her tribe has healed others for generations, Rebecca was interested in the wican life and thought herbology would be a good start.
When she arrives at her destination she enters the shop, walking past the sign labeled Closed she calls out for her friend, "Rebecca, I'm here. Are you in the back?"
A sweet voice belonging to a short ginger girl calls back to her, "I'll be out in just a second Karee! Lock the door behind you so no customers come in would ya."
Chuckling to herself she complies to the shop owners wishes locking the door behind her. While waiting she views the new items in stock behind the counter not yet for sale to the public. In the corner of the shelf she eyes a blue gem with a swirl of green going though it. Out of curiosity she reaches for it and holds it firmly in her palm. It feels smooth and cold to her skin but what surprised her most was the way the stone felt as if it were vibrating in her hand.
"Fascinating" she mumbled softly beneath her breath.
Sudedenly a hand lands on her shoulder causing her to let out a small squeal.
"REBECCA! Why would you scare me like that?"
She yells apon seeing it was just her friend who was currently hiding a smile behind her fingers.
"I'm sorry OK, I just thought I'd have a bit of fun before we start." Rebecca replied. "I see you found the weird gemstone I found. I've never seen anything like it, have you?"
"No, and I believe if I had I'd remember. How much do you want for it?" Karee questioned.
"I'm not sure I could put a price on it since I don't know what it is but if you'd like you can keep it for free if you tell me what it is when you find out."
"If your sure I'll gladly take it. I'll find out what it is if it's the last thing I do."
"I'm sure you wil" Rebecca chuckled. "Anyway let's start, The whole reason I wanted you to come over it to taste a new tea blend I made and I could use your expert opinion. It should be done steeping now."
The two ladies walk to the back office of the store where Rebecca had previously been preparing the beverages before Karee's arrival.
Karee sat at the small oak table while Rebecca grabed the 2 tea cups and sat across from the brown eyed female. "I want to see if you can guess what I used in it as you drink. Ill tell you if your right or not when your done." Karee smiled at her friend and took a sip of the new creation she had made. Careful not to burn herself as she took a sip of the hot liquid. Instantly picking up on a lemony flavor with a slight bittersweetness to it.
" I think it has some type of Sorrel based on the lemony flavor, maby dandelion for the bitterness. I'm not sure what the rest it."
"Do you have any guesses?"
"I don't know, Honeysuckle?" Karee said. She picked up he cup and downed the rest of her drink feeling slightly dizzy.
"Nope, do you give up?" Rebecca said smiling.
"Yes i give up. Whats in it." She sighs "also after this can we cut today short, I'm sudedenly not feeling to well and I'd like to go home and rest?"
"Oh you no fun" Rebecca said "But fine I'll tell you. You were right about there being Sorrel but not the rest. I also had Burdock and Magnolia buds." Karees head started to spin and her lungs started burning, craving oxygen that it sudedenly wasn't getting.
"I also added a extra special ingredient in yours and judging by your face its affecting you." Her smile grew wider, "Its nothing much really, just a bit of Hydrangea concentrate I made just for you."
Karee's eyes grew larger as she gasped for air.
She tried to stand but her legs gave out causing her to fall to the ground. "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? YOU KNOW THATS AS BAD AS CYANIDE!" She tried to yell but it came out as more of a croak. The world around her becoming more blurry by the second. She tried to ask for help but no sound would come out. Through the blurriness all she can see is a dark smile reaching from ear to ear on Rebecca's face. Apon the realization that this was no accident she thought to herself 'This is it. I'm going to die.' The world around her was fading, no longer able to hear anything and her vision becoming dimmer until she sees nothing but black.
