Apon arriving at their destination Rontu gently placed the
blushing girls feet on the ground as he speaks."This was his home, no one has been here since his death so all of his belongings should still be inside." "I see," she says taking a step back and attempting to hide her blushing face behind her thick black hair. "We should head inside then." She quicky walking into the long hut. She looks around and sees a doorway covered with a pelt on the backwall and to the left she see's shelves covered in pottery jars full of unknown items, bundles of diffrent dried plants hanging on the walls. She glances to the right and sees a large slab of stone with pelts laying on top presumably a bed for patients to lay on, and in the corner a small hole lined with small rocks with ash and charcoal sitting in the bottom.
She approaches the plants hanging on the walls first. She
see's plants sutch as marjoram, oregano, rosemary, dill, basil, chives, lavender, and mint. The combination creating a nice smell that has filled the room. She continues her search going to the pots next. As she opens them she finds some empty from where the old doctor never got to refill them, but others had diffrent parts of dried plants, some holding stems and roots while others held leaves or petals.
"Rontu can you take that large clay pot to the river on
The outskirts of the village and fill it with water for me, I'm going to use some of these plants to make a tea to help the sick people recover." He nods his head and grabs the pot and runs out the door to complete his task. Karee walks to the fire pit and places some of the firewood that was set to the side into pit leaving a spot in the center for the pot to be placed when Rontu returns before going back to the storage area. She starts gathering the ingredients she needs for the tea grabbing lavender, ginger, apple skin, and cinnamonand starts mixing them together in a small stone bowl.
Quick as he left Rontu returned, pot full of water. Karee
walks over to the pit and getters for him to place the pot in the center. "Can you place it here for me so I can start a fire to boil the water?" She asked him as she picks up the two flint stones ready to start the fire. Rontu stoped at the mention of the flames being brought into the building. "Is the fire necessary?" He questioned nervously, "Many beastmen have died being unable to escape flames that have engulfed the forest or villages they live in." "It is, and as long as you know how to use fire it is perfectly safe, this pit was here from the previous doctor with ashes and charcoal left in it so even he used fire when nesecarry. I also grew up using fire to cook or even just to star warm when the temperature started to get cold." She trys to reassure him. "I see," he says voice still skeptical, "At least let me light it and keep it under control so you don't risk getting enjured." Karee smiled at his kindness and passes him the flint stones as she spoke. "OK, I'll let you light the fire and I promise I won't get to close to it."
She showed him how to strike the flint in order to cause
the flames to come to life. As he lights it his face stays nervous, afraid the fire will become out of control. Karee hands him the mixture of dried plants and instructs him to pour them into the water that is starting to boil. Occasionally mixing the dried herbs into the water insuring everything is evenly spread through the water. After the water boils for a sufficient amount of time they put out the fire and wait for the pot to be cool enough to carry. They go to each hut containing sick beastman and put some of the tea into jars at their homes so other members of the family could give it to them at least 3 times a day until they recovered. For the single males Karee and Rontu took turns helping the males drinkthe tea until they had enough strength to hold the jugs containing the tea left by the mysterious female who had appeared in their village. The next day everyone who had been sick condition had improved to where they were able to stand and walk on their own.
The new well had been completed, this one having a
wooden lid to ensure this incident didn't repeat. Many families and single males left baskets of fruit, animal furs, and anything else they could give their savior as thanks. Rontu looks at the petite girl standing next to him with a gentle smile and a hint of pink on his cheeks. "You have saved many of my people, thank you." His voice solft "You truly have been a blessing to us all," he pauses and gently takes her hand in his causing her to look up into his hazel eyes. "You truly are a gift from the beast God." He says nealing down and placing a solft kiss on her hand causing her to blush even darker than his. "Rontu." She says voice full of shock. "Stop, I don't think I'd be able to stand hearing your rejection," he says trying to cover the sadness in his voice, "I just want you to know even if i am not your mate i will protect you for the rest of my life and what ever males you choose will be the luckiest men alive." Without thinking Karee wrapped her arms around Rontu's neck pulling him down to her level and firmly placed her lips on his.
