Healing The Beastworld

Ch 3: learning the basic

  Apon arriving at Ninebark village Karee saw homes in a style similar to native american longhouses. As she road on Rontus back deeper into the village many groups of "beastmen" as Rontu called his kind formed and stared at the nervous girl. She tried to be polite and smile and wave causing many males to turn red in the face. While observing her surroundings she noticed she saw very few females, maby 9 in total but she saw many men scattered throughout the village. 'I'll have to ask Rontu where all the females are wherever we get to where he's taking me.'  Many minutes passed and they arrived at a smaller longhouse located at the back edge of the village.
  Rontu nelt down allowing the small woman to get off his back.  Rontu lead the way into his home with Karee following close behind. As he went into a separate room she observed her surroundings taking note of the lack of furniture in the room she was in, She saw a small pile of animal pelts that appeared to be laid out as some sort of nest on one side of the room while the other side had a table and shelf covered in clay jars and a couple of clear gemstones.  Seeing the stone reminds her of the gem her "friend" gave her before killing her. She reaches her hand into her pocket to grab the gem and apon looking at it she noticed that the green within the stone had disappeared and the vibration stopped. 'Strange' She thought  to herself while inspecting the gemstone closer.
"Do you like my home?"  Rontu asked walking up to her now
Wearing a loincloth. "Oh um, yeah it's got a nice size to it." She responded while fighting with her hands. He smiled with pride taking her words as a compliment. He looked down seeing the gem in her hand "OH WOW! You have a blue crystal, you must come from a very wealthy clan."  Karee looked him in his hazel eyes internally debating on if she should tell him where she came from. She comes to the conclusion that if he wanted to hurt her she would have already and decides to tell him her story.
  "Rontu you have been nothing but kind to me so I think you should know the truth about me." He tilts his head looking at her in concern. "I'm not a beastman and I'm not sure about how your world works. I was visiting one of my friends and she poisoned me, the next thing you know i was waking up in the forest here. I know it might be sudden but I'd like to ask, Can you teach me about your world?" Rontu gently takes Karees hands in in his and kneels down infront of her. "If you truly are from another world then the beast God has chosen to bring you here as a blessing, I swear I will protect you with my life and teach you all I can about this world."
Karee quickly pulls Rontu into her arms, her tight grip
squeezing him close to her body. "Thank you so much." She cried into his ear, a mountain of stress leaving her body.
  "So I think it would be best if you tell me about this world and if I have any questions I can tell you, Sound good to you?" Rontu nodded his head agreeing with her. "OK I have a few  questions already. What are beastmen, mates, and savage beast?" She asked.
"Beastmen are what I am. We have the ability to turn into our perfect form which is what I'm in now, or the species of beast we are This village is home to mainly coyote beastmen but we also have a couple of foxes. Male beastmen are born in their beast forms and can't shift until  they reach the age of 15 cycles." Karee nodded her head showing she was comprehending his words.
  "Mates are your life partners. Since females are so rare the take multiple mates to provide for them and protect them. If a male doesn't provide for a female properly she has the right to abandon them. Males only get one mate their entire life, they will do anything for their female and insure they are happy." Karee was stunned "You mean I'm expected to have multiple partners, what if I don't want multiple.  Also if a male is abandoned why don't they just find a new mate?"
"When a male becomes a mate his soul is given to the female and its shown on them as a mating mark, When a male is abandoned the mark vanishes to show the soul has been destroyed. Some males don't survive the destruction of their soul  while others feel the pain of it and become full of anger and often seek to hurt any female they see making them untrustworthy and dangerous so they are exiled for the village they reside." She sadly nods her head. "You need multiple mates in order to protect you and provide for you. Is that not how it works from were your from?" She shakes her head no in response. "In my world there is an equal amount of males and females so there is no need to take multiple mates. We also don't just automatically become life mates, most people become friends first and develop feelings for each other then decide to date to see if they are compatible for each other in the long run. If you are you get married which I guess would be becoming mates here, if you weren't compatible or even after becoming mates your feelings change you break up or divorce which means you both leave to find a new partner." Rontu's eyes go wide "Your world sounds strange but fascinating, how does a male provide for their female and protect them all alone though?" He ask not sure how such a thing is possible.
  "Well, males and females provide for each other. They get
jobs that can provide them with money to pay for food, bills, and anything else they may need together. It doesn't take much to protect your self in my world because there isn't that much danger." He nods his head  in understanding before he continues to answer her questions.  "Savage beast are giant scale covered beast that eat anything that moves with never ending hunger. They are very strong and often roam in groups making them hard to defeat but if you manage they have a life core in them that can keep you young, heal wonds or cure sickness so they are very valuable."  "OK I think that's all the questions I have for now. What else should I be aware of?" Karee ask.
"There are also tainted beastmen, they are species of beast man like snakes, scorpions, bat's, and sharks. The often kidnap females and force them to mate in order to continue their species. Due to their nature they live solitary lives away from villages and city's.
  We have 4 seasons in a cycle, the first is rebirth season which is what we are currently in, when life returns to plants and warmth returns. Females also go into heat and are able to have cubs, the second is wet season it is the hottest season and also the most wet due to the high amout of rain we receive. Then the 3rd season is dry season where plants start to wilt and the warmth fades leaving a coolness in its place, it is also when males try to harvest and hunt all they can to prepare for the last season. The last season is white season, temperatures drop causing many beast to freeze and white to fall from the sky covering everything in its path. It is the most dangerous season because it is hard to hunt so many starve or are eaten in order to keep their mates alive. Many also fall sick and die." Karee understands the seasons since they are they same she is used to just with different names. The females going in heat was strange to her. "You mean that females can only get pregnant at one point of the year?" "Of course, the go into heat for a 1 week every year and in that time they are able to reproduce. Is it not the same for you?" He ask tilting his head to the side.
"Well no I have a period every 30ish days where I bleed for a week, anytime I'm not bleeding I am able to become pregnant."
"That's incredible the beast God must have blessed your world, but if your here you must make sure no one finds out." He says in a serious tone. "If people were to know they would try to steal you and uses your fertility for their own gain."
"I understand I'll make sure no one finds out. Is there anything else I should know for now." Rontu shakes his head no. "For now I believe that is all. If you'd allow me to I would like to take your measurements so I can make you some clothes that don't look to strange, I could also make sure you won't over heat since it is startling to get warmer."
Karee looks down at her colorfull cotton clothes and green cardigan and thinks back to the animal skin she saw the rest of the villagers wearing. "I think that would be for the best. If it's not to much to ask can you make it so I don't show off to much of my body, I'm not quite used to how reveling the clothing her is." She says with a nervous chuckle.
"Of course, after I take your measurements I will start making you a few outfits to wear. While I'm doing that if you'd like I have some fruit in one of my pots you can eat or if you'd rather you can rest in my nest it's quite solft."
"I'm down to eat some fruit and take a nap." He smiles at her and grabs a long leather strap and wraps it around different areas of her body to measure her. Once he finished he got a large pot of a shelf and took her to his nest of furs so rest on while she eats. She watches as he goes into the other room and comes back with a armful of furs and sits on the floor to begin working on the clothes
