Song above is song Raven listens to in chapter. (Swipe across)
A few days had passed and Raven hadn't heard a whisper from the band. Axl hadn't called, nor had Erin and the other band members all seemed to be busy or had forgotten about her. Raven moved from her seat in the lounge room to the kitchen, where she grabbed the phone and dialed Erin and Axl's number. It was about ten in the morning. The dial tone sounded four times and then;
"Hello?" Axl had picked up. He sounded happy,
"Hey Ax, how're you doing?" Raven smiled,
"Ah yeah I'm good. Just been hanging out with Erin mostly, you?" Axl replied.
"I'm pretty good, you know- same old same old. Life of a mother and all that." Raven smiled gently,
"Suppose you wanna talk to Erin?" Axl asked,
"If you could, that'd be great!" Raven replied, nodding even though Axl couldn't see her. There was a shuffling noise and then a pleased sounding Erin greeted,
"Hey!"
"Hi Erin, how's it going?" Raven asked,
"Oh I'm so great! Axl just had a spa bath with me, and it was so romantic! He floated rose petals on the water and had all these lovely scented candles burning around the room, and the lights were off. We drank champagne- in the bathtub!" Erin exclaimed, sounding giddy with happiness. "Thankyou so much for fixing us." She said "though those bruises on his face aren't so welcome."
"Bruises?" Raven made herself sound suprised, feigning ignorance,
"He won't tell me how they got there. There's one across his cheekbone and the other is right near his nose." Erin explained, tone now worried. There was a short pause, "maybe he got into a pub brawl, I dunno. Anyway..." Erin trailed off.
"Well I'm glad you're having so much fun, honey." Raven said,
"Oh yeah- Axl's really got a good hold on his emotions lately." Erin responded, "oh- Axl wants the phone back! I'll talk to you later, bye bye!"
"Bye Erin." Raven smiled,
"Hey Rae, I'm back!" Axl's voice came through the phone.
"Hey dude!"
"Now- you gotta come to next band practice." Axl said, suddenly serious.
"Uh huh? Why?" Raven questioned,
"We have something to announce and I gotta ask you something." Axl told her,
"Right?" Raven replied "okay- when's the next band practice?" Was her next question.
"Today- at three." Axl replied, "can you do it?" He asked.
"Yeah- I can do it. See you there." Raven said,
"Yeah okay, thanks. Bye!" Axl responded. The dial tone sounded and Raven hung the phone back up. She moved back towards the living room, where Renan was standing on the couch, hands braced against the backrest.
"What are you doing?" Raven asked, advancing towards the toddler. He smirked at her and said,
"Stan-ing!" In his cute little kid voice,
"I know, smartie pants." Raven replied, "but you're not allowed to stand up there!" She told him, hands on her hips.
"Fee count-ry- boss lady!" Renan managed to say. This had her a little stunned, her jaw dropped open and she half laughed. She was just sassed by a two year old. She stepped towards him, grabbed hold of him before he could run, lifted him up and began tickling him. He giggled manically,
"Stop!- sop!" Renan cried out through his uncontrollable giggles.
"Stop what? This?" She kept going,
"Y-yes!" Renan continued to giggle.
"Yes? Don't stop? Okay." She laughed,
"Ahhh!" Renan yelled "he-elp!"
Raven stopped and put him back on his feet.
"Now let's get ready." Raven said,
"No." Renan replied,
"Why not?"
"You tiggle me!" He said,
"I'm sorry!" She exclaimed, "but it's so fun!" She added.
"Meanie!" Renan glared at her, she hugged him,
"I'm sorry buddy."
"O-k. I forgive you mommy! Buh you still mean!" Renan told her. She chuckled. He was so cute.
"Alright, gonna come and get ready?" She then asked,
"Uh huh!" Was his answer. She scooped him up and carried him upstairs, placing him in his crib while she chose clothing for him.
"Okay, so some blue jeans..." she passed him a pair of light blue jeans. "A shirt-" she rummaged in the cupboard for a minute, eventually choosing a white shirt with a little motobike on the front. "And your jacket." She concluded, grabbing the black jacket he usually wore. She helped dress him and then took him downstairs and got his shoes on him. "Ready?"
"Yeah!" Renan smiled. He was standing in his little outfit, looking up at her. "Mom- up!" He grasped the hem of her shirt.
"No honey." She refused,
"Ohhw!" Renan looked sad, shuffling his feet. Raven smiled gently and scooped him up,
"You're too cute!" She told him. He smiled back at her and she carried him out to the car, where she strapped him in to his childseat. She then got into the car herself and started the engine.
"Count to ten for me, Renan." Raven said, as she pulled out of the drive way,
"Ten!" Renan replied,
"No count all the numbers to ten."
"Ten." Renan said.
"From one to ten." Raven then requested.
"One-" there was a short pause. "-ten!"
"Renan!" She giggled a little, glancing briefly in the mirror. Renan gave her his cheeky grin, "c'mon- you know what I mean!" She exclaimed,
"One- two- free- four- fife- six- sev-en... eight- nine- ten!" Renan said slowly.
"Very good!" Raven smiled, looking down the road,
"Mom- moosic!" Renan demanded,
"What do you say?" Raven asked,
"Pease!" Renan replied.
"Good boy." She praised, clicking the button on the stereo. The cassette in the stereo was Skid Row's album; 'Skid Row'. The song that immediately came on was 'I remember you', one of Raven's favourites, and a hit a few months ago. She tapped her hand against the steering wheel and bobbed her head to the beat as she drove towards the band's recording studio. As she arrived and entered the building, one of the crew members ushered her into the mixing room, and as she stepped over the threshold, Slash's guitar solo for estranged was ringing through the studio. She smiled gently, waiting for him to finish. Finally, Slash looked up through the glass and spotted the new arrivals. Renan pounced on Slash as he came through the door to the mixing room.
"Perfect Slash, that was great." Axl's voice came from behind her, startling her. When did he come in? Raven wondered if he'd been there all along.
"Hi Ax!" Raven greeted, and Renan got off Slash, running to greet Axl instead. Axl caught him.
"Hey buddy!" He grinned at the scruffy, energetic toddler.
"Hey!" Renan grinned,
"What did you need to talk about?" Raven questioned, Axl looked up at her.
"C'mon in here, both of you. This is something the whole band needs to hear." Axl lead the way through to a little room, which was mainly empty except for the worn old, mismatched chairs. Raven took a seat on one and Renan jumped up on Izzy's knee. Izzy looked suprised at first, then hugged the toddler.
"Okay everyone." Axl began, Erin rose from the seat she was in on the far side of the room. "Erin and I have an important announcement to make." Axl looked both proud and like he was about to cry, but Raven couldn't tell if it was out of happiness or not. "Erin found out the other day that she's pregnant." Axl told them. Erin grinned,
"Aw what! Congratulations man!" Matt cheered, Slash grinned from under his hair.
"Yeah congrats!" Slash said,
"I know you always wanted a kid, dude! Congratulations!" Duff said.
"Congrats Ax!" Izzy added,
"Congratulations!" Raven smiled from her chair. She had hoped this would happen,
"And I also wanted to ask you, Raven, to come along on our tour in January. You've helped us all so much and I reckon we need a woman on board that Erin knows to keep her company!" Axl winked. Raven was overcome with excitement.
"Oh my gosh- really?!" She grinned from ear to ear. "Thankyou!" She bounced out of her chair and hugged Axl and Erin both in one go. "You guys rock!"Thanks for reading. Tell me what you thought! Xx
