Raven walked along sunset, kicking an aluminum can out of her way. She was now three weeks pregnant, and an almost unnoticeable bump had begun to appear, which sometimes made Raven uncomfortable. She made her way into a small store which smelled of dust and picked up a little diary and a pack of pens. Once paid for, she stuffed her purchases into her jacket pocket and went back outside. The street was busy, people went back and forth before her and beside her, shoving one another and brushing past. Leaves blew around beneath their feet and were swept up into the air. A chill wind picked up and swept her jacket back from her body a little, before it fell back into place. Raven put a hand on her belly.
"What am I gonna do with you?" She muttered to the lifeform inside her. "You have no idea how scary this is; Being pregnant." She told it. Great. Now she was talking to her miniscule bump. She stuck a hand in her empty pocket and kept walking, making for her home. Her father had no idea about the small human just starting out within her. She was a bit scared to tell him. Her mother hadn't really been in contact with her since the first year she had landed in this reality, the year her parents broke up.
Raven idly wondered what her first mother would have said, her mother back in the future. She would have been ecstatic and bought a ton of baby clothes and knitted tiny woolen jumpers with Raven's nan. Raven smiled gently at the thought of the look on her original dad's face if she had told him there would be a baby. He might have fainted. A tear rolled down her cheek and she wiped it away. She could never seem to stop missing them in all their irritating glory.
Being a Cassel was nice, but she would forever miss her old life. Her hand idly rubbed gently over her tummy. She wondered about what she might name it. If it was a girl, Raven knew her middle name would be Rose, after her grandmother. For a boy, Raven would have at least one of his names be Cassian, which was a middle name that had been running in her first family for generations.
She could even have one name be after a famous rockstar.
"Luca Cassian Hendrix-" she said aloud, "no- Renan Cassian- Fabian?- Xavier Cassian Hendrix Cassel." It was a long name, but she liked it. She couldn't seem to decide on the first name. "Renan, Xavier, Fabian or Luca?" She thought aloud. Evie could be a nice girl's name. Evie Rose. Or Bonnie? Once again she found herself stuck on the first name. Or Maizie Rose, which was sort of a cute one. At least she had most of the boy's name figured out. Two middle names. Cassian Hendrix. And the girl's middle name would be Rose.
She walked up to the front door and inserted the key, turning it and hearing a click. She stepped through and saw her father on the lounge, and next to him, Duff and Izzy. She smiled and said
"Hey!"
"Hullo." Duff responded.
"Sup?" Came Izzy's reply.
"Ugh... I have something I need to tell you three." She said nervously. Her father, Duff and Izzy all looked at her, waiting. She coughed once, still jittery.
"I'm- ah... p-pregnant." She stuttered out. There was a few seconds of silence, then Duff began to laugh, her father yelled "WHAT?!!" and Izzy looked ever so slightly ruffled, he had under-reacted, which was very him.
"Good one, Rae!" Duff smirked. "You had 'em fooled!" He added.
"I am serious Duff." She told him. Slowly, the smile slipped off of Duff's face.
"Whah-" was the noise he made, and the energy seemed to seep away from him. Her father was cranky. Very cranky.
"Which one- of those fucks- did that to you?!" Her father growled from his lounge seat.
"No- dad, it wasn't the boys!" She exclaimed.
"Then who- was- it?" He asked, every syllable dripping with acid.
"I went to a big party, got drunk and- I dunno who he was, dad! I was drunk and I made a mistake and now-" she said quickly, "now I'm pregnant." She finished quietly, looking at her shoes. Her father sat silently for a second.
"I am severely disappointed, Raven. I suggest you leave me alone for an hour or two." He looked at the wall angrily. Tears pricked at her eyes, and one trailed down her face. She ran upstairs. She could hear Izzy's voice, he sounded angry, then Duff appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Are you alright?" He asked, opening her bedroom door. She stepped through and he followed.
"Izzy- uh- he's not very happy with your dad just now. He thinks he could have handled it better." Duff told her.
"I can tell." Raven responded, rubbing her tears away as they fell.
"Oh- don't cry, Rae!" He said, pulling her into a hug.
"I- I was scared he'd be angry with me- and him being disappointed as well is so much worse! I wish he would've yelled instead. I feel really bad for it." Raven cried.
"I know! I know! Shhh shh shh!" Duff rubbed her back.
The door opened and Izzy came in, he was frowning a little and came towards her. Duff let go and Izzy grabbed hold of her, firmly but gently, and hugged her. She had stopped crying now, and looked up into Izzy's hazel eyes.
"Th-thankyou!" She smiled.
"All good, Rae rae!" He allowed a small smile and kissed her forehead. She knew it was hard to get any sort of reaction out of Izzy, but the quiet ones always do snap the loudest. His longish black mop of hair fell into one of his eyes and he swept it out of the way with one hand. He then placed that hand on her belly.
"I support you, Raven. I always have and I always will. You're my best friend, and anybody who fucks with my best friend fucks with me." He told her firmly. Raven smiled, and Duff moved towards her.
"How far through are you?" He questioned.
"Um- three weeks." She told him. He smiled and nodded.
"You don't really look pregnant." Izzy commented.
"Nah, you don't, really." Duff said,
"Yeah, like I said, only three weeks." She laughed and then sat down on her bed.
Raven realised just how teary she had become lately. Her pregnancy hormones were making her act like she was PMSing constantly. Duff sat beside her and rubbed her back gently.
"Everything will be alright!" He told her.
"You know this baby probably won't meet his real dad, Rae. Are you okay with that?" Izzy asked,
"Yes. Of course, I think it's better that way. That guy was an asshole. Besides, I'll always have you guys. The baby will practically have five dads." Raven laughed. Izzy grabbed her hand and knelt down.
"And we'll treat him like he's our own." He told her.
What do you reckon? And do you have any names? Thanks for reading and sorry it's kinda short.
Who do you reckon she'll hook up with in the end?
