His POV
I politely knocked the door of my grandmother's room. I knew I had made her sad even though I didn't intend.
After whatever happened, that lady had single handedly tried to make this family normal, but that nowhere meant that she wasn't hurting.
I entered the room without waiting for a response from her. "I am sorry" I whispered to the old lady who was laying with her back facing me. The slowed shuffles indicated that she was still awake.
Silence.
I waited another few minutes for my granny to say something but when there wasn't anything I continued myself "ok. For the sake of you I will go out and meet one more girl"
My granny quickly turned sides to face me. The pure excitement visible on her face.
"But-"I interrupted to make myself clear before she could get her hopes up high
"If this fails... we are never going to have this discussion again, EVER"
"That would require you not to be biased" her voice was low but stern. None of us uttered a word. The agreement was pure tension but necessary.
"Whom are you going to meet" she asked. And as disinterested as I was, I picked up a random picture from the few laid on the bed facing upside down. "This one" I said without looking at the picture.
"That's Jasmine. She is the daughter of-"
"I don't care. I'll forget anyway."I was already making my way out of the room.
"I'll contact her for you." My oldie spoke a little louder and impatiently and for some reason it made me stop in my tracks.
"Actually no. I'll contact her this time" there is no explanation to whatever made me do that. But I decided to do it differently this time.
This last time.
'This is the last time and I plan on failing miserably at it. Let's end this topic once and for all'

Her POV:
Agasthya : these are the top 5 restaurants that I own. Where would you like to meet?
Jasmine had requested for a call but Agasthya was too busy for a 11am call and instead dropped a text.
"He is such a bore. I plan on ditching." Jas told me while I was busy scrolling reels looking at various easy ways to put up new hairstyle and waiting for our breakfast order.
"I think you should still go. Decide after meeting him."
"Of course I am gonna go. I need to get you drunk."
"Are you still on with it?" I was honestly blank with her statement
"You think I was joking?" Jas retorted with a winning expression.
Jasmine: I am sending you a location. Meet me at this club. 10pm tonight
Agasthya : why would you meet at a club?
Jasmine: I am answering nothing over text. Call for details. (PS if you plan on cancelling the date out please don't tell my parents until tomorrow)
"Order 484" the attendant from behind the counter gave a call
"I'll get that" Jasmine got up to leave
It had been a while since Jas had gone. I was sure the only thing taking her away so long was Jasmine's struggle with the calculation of the Indian currency. Yet she is always determined until she learns.
I ignored the first time that Jasmine's phone rang and the caller ID showed up as -Club date. I knew it was that man.
I looked for Jas in the crowd but couldn't locate.
It was when he dialed again I decided to answer and let him know that Jas will call him back.
I picked the call up
"Hel-"
"Where do you wanna go for a date?" Wow. A husky voice from the other end of the phone shut me up before I could even say anything.
It was not that he was asking me out. But somewhere deep inside I wished that someone with this voice, with this charisma and command, that was palpable from the other end of the device would ask me out like that.
I am sorry lord, I might have sinned just now
I was guilty.. The last thing I wanted to do was to think about my best friend's date. Although she was least interested... it was still not right.
"Umm" I cleared her throat and built courage and internally prayed my voice doesn't sound like a crow "Jas - I mean Jasmine's not here. I'd let her know you called."
There was silence. Utter silence on the other end of the line. For a minute I thought I lost the connection.
Like not in literal way. The phone connection.
"You are?" Not my potential groom uttered.
"Doesn't matter really." I cut the call. I panicked. Like he could hear my thoughts. And I was ashamed of even having them in the first place. I don't know what thoughts were they. I buried them deep before they could even surface. But I was ashamed.
It was just a phone call. With a man with a voice of command.
"Your man called" I was ashamed at the heightened pitch of my voice.
"He did?" Jas wasn't excited a bit and for some reason I found it unfair.
Jas took her phone back to call him only to see a text from him.
Agasthya : called you but someone else answered. Need to go for a meeting now. I'll see you at the club tonight.
"Never mind he is busy." Jas nonchalantly took a sip of her cold coffee.
