His POV :

After a very careful and tiring good night to my supposed date, it was time to head to 'Aurora Point', Ruth's aunt's boutique.

"We need to get done with today for real." Frustration left my mouth while Yuvan just nodded. Ruth was laying flat on my back seat. The fact that she was so tiny that she could actually fit in comfortably in the backseat of my Mercedes.

I turned to look at her to check if I need to strap her on, for safety reasons of course since we are planning to speed up.

And God I can keep her strapped.

"What's wrong?" Yuvan quickly looked in my direction before turning back to the road.

I nodded in a no. "We are never meeting these troublemakers again." I said softly feeling a little too unsettling than I thought I would.

We finally came to halt outside our given location.

"Don't worry, I got her." I said to Yuvan, indicating him to sit back as he was getting ready to help her out.

I stepped out and reached out to the back door trying to pull her out from her little nest. It took me a little adjustment of my grip underneath her back and legs to raise her in the, I don't want to say out loud, bridal carry.

"Are you sure you don't need my help, boss?"

I might need his help. It's good to ask for help. I am paying him for helping me around. But -

"No, I think I can manage." I hope.

10th floor, 1004.

Thankfully and as expected, the elevator was here.

——

I was staring for a good minute at the locked door. I had managed to knock the door somehow cause I definitely couldn't reach up to the door bell holding the woman like that. And when there wasn't any response, I knew I had to put the lady on her own two feet.

"Ruth" I called her out gently. Her name was so foreign to my tongue. It could never get used to calling it out. Maybe it was never meant to call her name out and this was just a series of unfortunate events. I shook the train of misery back to where it belonged, my sub conscious, and tried focusing on the matter at hand.

"Ruth" I called her louder this time.

"Hm" she shuffled, almost knocking me off balance.

"I might have to put you down." I slowly held her down when she was somewhat more awake. "Ruth, do you have keys.?" I was still holding her in place stuck between should I ring the doorbell one more time or should I just empty her purse to look for keys.

"Do you have keys Ruth?"

"Mumma open the door" Ruth screamed unexpectedly. "Shh shh" I held her mouth while she tipped her stance all over the place.

"We are past midnight and this is not your parents house. Behave woman." My hand cupped her mouth as I had pulled her close , hushing my words so as to save my face from any upcoming embarrassment tonight.

She nodded, her big eyes looking intently at me. They were brown that would shine golden if I were to look at them this closely under the sun.

What colour were Jasmine's eyes?

I was internally ashamed and in guilt for I don't know what. I was not doing anything wrong. If anything, I should be happy. I thought I could never be attracted to someone, that my past will always line up to hunt me down, it that was not the case.

It wasn't right?

I was so in my head I did not realise that Ruth was standing there with keys in her hand, trying to open with door with the keychain.

How drunk is this lady!

"Give it to me." I struggled taking the keys out of her hand.

"It's okay, I'll manage." I opened the door.

And it was empty. "Where is your aunt?" I asked Ruth. But she was already making her way to the bedroom at the far end of the passage.

I rushed behind. "Is that your room?" Why the fuck do I care?

"This is where I sleep when I stay at my aunt's." It was technically not her room and she wouldn't know anyway tomorrow morning that I was here.

Yuvan had started ringing up my phone. I realised I was here for longer than necessary.

Yuvan: Boss is everything alright?

Agasthya: yup. Will be down in five.

"Just lay down however and sleep."

I was rushing to get out of here. And I was almost there before I heard that noise.

And again.

I dreaded to turn back to go in the room, but here I was.

Ruth was collapsed in the washroom, puking her guts out.

Holy fuck.
