Part 1 :The Beginning of the end

Hayley and Klaus had been inseparable ever since Klaus's little sister introduced them, and they became seatmates in high school. Their bond was immediate, forged in shared pranks and whispered secrets. As the first bell rang, marking the start of class, Hayley turned to Klaus with a raised eyebrow.

"Why are you grinning like an idiot?" she asked, unable to hide her amusement.

He flashed his charming, devilish smile. "You have to wait and see, love."

Before Hayley could press him further, the classroom door burst open, and in stormed Mr. Marcus, their usually composed teacher, now covered in a questionable white powder.

"WHO DID THIS?!" he bellowed, his fury echoing through the room.

The students stifled their laughter, each trying to maintain a straight face. Mr. Marcus's eyes scanned the classroom, finally settling on Klaus, who still wore his smirk.

"Mr. Mikaelson," Mr. Marcus began, his tone dripping with accusation. "Do you have anything to do with this?"

Klaus leaned back in his chair, feigning innocence. "What do you mean, sir?"

Before Mr. Marcus could completely lose his cool, Hayley interjected. "It wasn't Klaus, Mr. Marcus. He was with me in the library this morning, working on our art project."

Klaus's smirk widened, and Hayley shot him an annoyed glare, silently warning him that he owed her an explanation. The prank had been planned by Klaus and his brother Kol over the weekend.

As their senior year unfolded, a bittersweet love story began to emerge between them. Hayley struggled to conceal her deepening feelings for Klaus, her partner in crime. Klaus, aware of his own emotions, tried to dismiss his feelings by feigning interest in Caroline.

Prom night arrived, and Klaus made the decision to bring Caroline as his date. However, upon his arrival with Caroline, he discovered Hayley with Tristan, his crazy ex-girlfriend's brother, known for his arrogance and cruelty. A surge of protectiveness enveloped Klaus, prompting him to lead Hayley away from Tristan, ignoring the smug expression on Tristan's face.

In the school garden near the prom hall, Klaus confronted Hayley, his hurt and anger evident. "WHY ARE YOU GOING WITH HIM TO THIS PROM?!" he demanded.

Hayley, annoyed and confused, retorted, "First, why yell at me? Second, I can ask anyone to go with me. And third, why do you even CARE!"

"Because you're my best friend, and he's not good for you, Hayley," Klaus admitted, his feelings bubbling to the surface. "Hell, even Elijah has a crush on you."

After a heated exchange, Hayley finally confessed, "I was jealous of Caroline being your prom partner, Klaus. I don't really care who my partner is; he just happened to be near me at that time."

"Why would you feel jealous of Caroline?" Klaus asked, his confusion evident.

Hayley looked into Klaus's enchanting blue eyes and confessed, "Because I have feelings for you, Klaus, not just protective feelings but the kind of feelings where I am in love with you, Klaus Mikaelson."

Klaus was stunned, not understanding why someone like Hayley would love him. However, his joy was short-lived as his insecurities took over, and he insisted, "No, Hayley, you shouldn't have feelings for me. Maybe you're just mistaken and have feelings for Elijah."
