I woke up on Maxx's couch. "Good morning, Cody!" Sarah said from the kitchen. "What's cooking?" I asked. "Pancakes." She replied, "Do you want some?". I got up, walked to the cabinet, and grabbed a plate. "Hey, Sarah, want to see something crazy?" I said. "Um, sure." She replied shakily. I put one of my hands above the plate and it started levitating. "Holy shit," Sarah whispered. Shit, does she not like it? "This is awesome! Maxx! Get down here!" Sarah ran to their bedroom. Maxx ran out with Sarah "You weren't kidding!" Maxx said. "How did you get these powers?!". How am I going to explain that? "You like this?" I asked. "Why wouldn't we?!" Maxx said running over to me and hugging me. "You're welcome here, I've actually been obsessed with vinyl records! It's weird." I looked at him very confused. "That's completely normal. Why is that weird?" I replied, Maxx looked back at Sarah. "We had to empty an entire room for his collection," Sarah said, walking into the kitchen to finish making breakfast.
"These tastes great!" I said, sitting on the ceiling. "By the way, can we lay some ground rules for your powers, Cody?" Maxx asked. I nodded my head "Okay, no shoes on the ceiling, no changing colors of things unless we ask you to, no making things disappear and appear unless we ask you to, and don't scare the shit out of us unless it's funny.". I nodded again in agreement.
Cody gained more power as the days on the ceiling went on, and Maxx gained more vinyl records. Andy helps Cody mentally get through all the burdens that come with his powers. In Cody's nightly visits, Andy has been cryptically hinting at 'apocalypse' but Andy has always been a joking kind of person.
But nothing could prepare them for this...
I walked up the wall to get on the ceiling. "This morning feels weird," I said. Maxx looked at me weirdly "Why?" He asked yawning. "I don't know, it just feels off. Do you think this was a bad idea?" I replied, changing the colors of Maxx's shirts to make them look thrifted. "What, the shirts?" Maxx said "Or your powers? Because I like looking like I've been under the sun for 30 years.". I shook my head "I'm fine with you dressing like that, I don't care." I started fidgeting with the collar on the shirt in my hands. "It's my powers, Andy's been talking about an apocalypse when he visits me and It's stressing me out.". Maxx walked under to where I was sitting. "It's going to be okay." He stuck his hand out to give me a fist bump. I stood up to give him one. I grabbed his arm and pulled him up to the ceiling. "What!" I saw his eyes dilate. "My house looks weird upside down. Are you trying to teach me this?" He asked. "No, I can't," I replied. He looked disappointed. "Is it Andy? Fuck what Andy says! Teach me!". He said, playfully shaking me. I grabbed his wrist "I can't because I don't think I can teach you levitation.". He let go of my shoulders "Okay," He said, "It's still cool.".
He looked at the ground "Can you let me down now?" He asked. "Oh! Yeah." I raised my hand and lowered it to put him down. "Thank you." He said walking away. Hey, Cody! Andy said "Hey, Andy." Ready to meet Elsewhere? Andy asked. "Fuck yeah!" I exclaimed, okay, go to the top of the corner, and light it on fire! He screamed. I was shocked, "Are you sure? I've never thought about having fire powers." I stuttered out. Yes! I believe in you. I nodded my head and walked over to the corner.
Now, focus your energy to fire and the wall. Andy said, I thought of fire and saving everyone in Elsewhere. The corner lit up in flames. Yes, yes! Thank you, Cody. I walked away from the corner and stared at it. The fire shot down the wall and turned into the neon pink portal. I heard cheering and screaming. Lily, Makayla, Frank, and Angel danced through the portal and thanked me. As they walked through, they turned back into humans. Andy walked through after them. He had wavy brown hair and light brown skin. "Hey, Cody." He said running and hugging me. Lily, Makayla, Frank, and Angel came over and hugged us "Group hug!" Makayla yelled.
"What is going on!?" Sarah exclaimed. Everyone dispersed away from me and left me to explain this by myself. "I might've released the people in Elsewhere.". I replied, "Are you kidding me!?" Maxx screamed "Why would you do that!? You know they're dangerous!". I was in shock, "They're not! If anything, Andy has helped me stay sane!" I screamed back. I looked back at Andy; he was huddled with the others. I was livid. I lit a ring of fire around me, "Cody, you're being dramatic!" Sarah said. "No, I'm not!" I screamed back "These are real people with real lives! Have some empathy!". Maxx left the room looking at his phone. "Sarah, you should probably go with him." Makayla said. Sarah looked offended. "I think, just maybe, all of you should get out of my house!" She screamed at us. "Leave." Frank said, walking over to Sarah. He towered over her. Sarah's face went a ghostly white and she ran to Maxx.
"Alright, Cody," Andy said, "Ready to spread Elsewhere, well, elsewhere?". I laughed a little bit. "That was a terrible pun, but yes." I replied, he hugged me "Thank you, I can't say it enough.".
