19. Punishment

""Bhai, why did you call me in the middle of the night? I'm tired," he yawned.

Karv sat in his chair, looking at him.

"I'm sure you're exhausted," Karv said.

Arav smiled and nodded.

"You might need some rest, but on my terms," Karv said, approaching him and handing him an envelope.

Arav took it, confused.

As he opened it, Karv's eyes were fixed on him. Inside were photos that shocked Arav.

He couldn't understand how Karv had gotten them.

"I'm sure you'll need a rest after seeing these," Karv remarked.

Arav looked for a way to escape the room, unable to face his brother's anger.

"SPEAK, ARAV!"

Arav flinched. "Bhai, it's too late to talk about this—"

"It'll be too late if I don't address it now!" Karv interrupted, clearly furious. Arav was too scared to respond.

"Who authorized you to transfer money? How could you do this?" Karv demanded. Arav looked down.

"You know I hate lies, especially from you. Did we send you to school to destroy someone's life or to secure your future?" Karv shouted.

Arav shook his head. "Bhai, don't say that! I work hard at school—"

"For what? To become this? If this is who you are, I'm ashamed to call you my brother."

Karv sat on his bed, tears welling up in Arav's eyes, but he remained still.

Karv's anger intensified. "Don't cry now! I need answers. Why did you do all this? Did we teach you this?"

"Bhai, I was angry at her; it made me do this," Arav admitted.

Karv slapped him hard. Arav held his cheek. "Bhai, how can you hit me? For her?"

"Not for her, but because your actions are out of control." Karv glared at him. "What did she do to you? How can someone make you this way?"

"And was it your money you transferred to that boy's account? Now you're blackmailing people with our father's money? Is this who you are?"

"Bhai, please. She’s just someone I hate. She took my friends away."

Karv's anger only grew. "Please, Bhai, forgive me. I won’t do it again!" Arav pleaded.

"No, you need to be punished." Arav's eyes widened.

"What kind of punishment?"

"What you did is unforgivable. I need to talk to Father. Your punishment: no electronic gadgets, and your bank account will be zero!"
