Fourty-Two

Another day came along.

It was a beautiful day, it had been sunny the last few days in Yokohama. It was absolutely gorgeous outside and you didn't want the day to go to waste.

You sat behind daiki on her bed as you began to do her hair. She wanted some cute little pigtails, and you did them with ease. They were a simple and cute hairstyle that almost anyone could do. When the pigtails were done, you wrapped some white ribbon around each one and turned them into little bows.

Daiki was wearing a cute little blue and white patterned dress, while you wore just a plain white  sundress. You wanted you two to somewhat match because you always loved the idea of mothers twining with their toddlers. Not down to every single detail though, that was a little bit too much. 

You left your hair down naturally, flowing over your shoulders. "Alright, all done daiki" you smiled.

"Thank you" she smiled before hopping off of her bed and went over to where she was playing before.

"Of course" you nodded before you shifted yourself to look over towards your door as you heard the handle move. Chuuya entered inside, looking like his usual mafioso self. Which was never a problem, he always looked divine.

"Well don't my girl look lovely" chuuya smiled as you got up off the bed and made your way towards him. Wrapping your arms around his neck, placing a soft kiss on his lips, the little girl hugged you both to the best that she could with her little arms.

"Are you ready to go?" You asked.

"Yea, we're all good to go" chuuya said and you held on to the little girls hand as the three of you left her room.

You had plans to go out for breakfast in the morning instead of eating at head quarters. The little girl was still slightly nervous around the others, but slowly, she adjusted. It would take time for her to get used to every single mafia member here.

Tachihara would often stop by, offer some snacks, and check in to see how everybody was doing. It was sweet, and even though he didn't win your heart, he still wanted your friendship to last. Chuuya wasn't the fondest of it, but he knew how much Tachihara meant to you. He was pretty much your first friend here.

You even offered him to join you for breakfast, but he had plans with gin today. So, you decided to invite someone else instead. One person chuuya didn't know about; what a surprise it'll be.

Chuuya parked the car in front of the restaurant before exiting along side you. You watched chuuya open the back seat door, unbuckling the car seat and carrying daiki out. Watching him become a father was truly something you never thought you'd see. Not for a long time anyhow. But god you loved it. You loved your small little family.

The three of you walked in to the restaurant and got seated right away. Once you got to the table, chuuya's face turned in to a scowl as Dazai sat there at the table waiting for you three to show up. He had arrived a bit early, clearly.

"Hi Dazai" you smiled before sitting down next to him. It was a booth table and you knew daiki wouldn't sit next to a stranger and chuuya would rather die before doing so.

"Hey, how's everything going so far?" Dazai asked as you all began scanning the menus.

"Good" you smiled. "We have everything set up for her and her personality it starting to show" you began to give him the update. "She's a sweet and kind girl and she told us her name is daiki"

"She's coming out of her shell" Dazai smiled. "That's good"

"It really is" you agreed. "No signs of an ability yet though"

"I'm sure there's one brewing up" Dazai stated in a lower tone so the girl wouldn't hear. "I can feel it in my gut....nobody comes from there unharmed or normal anymore"

"I know" you sighed. "When it happens, we're going to need your help"

"And I'll do whatever I can" Dazai squeezed your hand a little for reassurance and you nodded. You were always thankful for Dazai and you always would be. He had never really failed you before.

"Are you ready to order?" The waitress said as she approached the table with a bright and beaming smile. "What a beautiful little girl you have miss"

"Thank you" you said. "And yes, I believe we are"

The time spent at the restaurant was mainly about of talk about the future and what the plan of action was for daiki. Depending on what she possessed, depended on course of action.

You needed her to warm up to Dazai so she could trust him. Once she did, you knew when an ability would kick in, she would allow him to help.

Daiki didn't know of abilities it seemed like, but slowly you, chuuya, and Dazai would have to teach her.

You began referring to Dazai as uncle Dazai to daiki. Thinking he was family may help her warm up quicker. Chuuya absolutely despised that, but he knew it would be for the greater good.

The mafia was one big family they say, and once a family member, always a family member. It's why Dazai was still family in your eyes. It's why the mafia still trusted him and asked for help when needed. He was born in mafia blood, the blackest of them all.

Dazai was the only one who could truly help daiki control her ability. It's the only reason chuuya put up with the man as of now; it was for the sake of his daughter. He knew the pain and trouble he went through trying to get his under control. He wished there was a person in his past as a child to help nullify it. Or just for someone to save him as a child as you all saved daiki.

You all knew deep in your gut, daiki's ability was going to hit her soon. It was brewing there inside of her, ready to come out at any time.

That organization put a god inside of chuuya, so who knew what they could have placed inside of daiki. It was on a scale of something little to nothing, to something that could obtain the power of a god. But that organization wanted weapons they could use, so the percentage of her having a low ranking ability was close to zero.

Like it was stated before, it had been sunny for a long while in Yokohama and it was sure to be rain soon.

And when it rains, it pours.

And when it pours hard enough, it'll storm.

And a storm was sure to be coming soon.....

Hiii, I hope everyone is enjoying this book so far! This is going to be getting wrapped up soon as I've stated previously.

Im thinking of maybe stopping it here though as a cliff hanger for book 2 👀

Maybe I'll make one or two more chapters though. Currently unsure, let me know what yall think.
