I was on my third basket of folding towels when a knock came from the side door. I looked around to make sure that no one was around and knocked twice.
It had been about a day since my last letter to "Joe," but I couldn't help but feel anxious about the situation at hand. It normally took a few days for him to respond, so for him to send a letter so quickly was a surprise for certain.
A folded paper slipped underneath the crevice of the door.
Without a moment of hesitation, I put on my cotton gloves that I kept handy in my apron's pocket and opened the letter.
Jane, I understand your concerns, but just wait. There's a bigger problem we've got and I need you to talk to Pine about this. Tell Pine that Sticks is bumping elbows with Lacey.
I've lost contact with Weller and Kicks and they were with Sticks last I checked.
Get to Pine before Sticks does.
—Joe
I sighed. Another one. Damn it.
I stood up from my basket and immediately left to go find Pine who I prayed was washing dishes and not stuffed into a linen closet yet again.
