"Coffee!" Luna practically cheered as she led Damian and herself out of the hotel and towards the parking lot.
Damian chuckled behind her, digging into the pockets of his shorts to get the keys for the rental. His body still felt light from her touch and he felt like he probably seemed like a lost puppy behind her from an outsider's perspective.
Get your shit together, he scolded himself harshly.
Luna paused when she stepped outside, inhaling the humid air. God, she complained to herself. My outfit may not be my best friend today.
Damian unlocked the car door for them with the keys, surprising Luna when he opened her door for her. She thanked him, getting into the car with a small smile at the gesture. He closed her door gently, walking along the side of the vehicle to open the trunk and place her bag within it. Then he got in the car himself, started the car, and his phone connected immediately to Bluetooth.
"Here," he passed his unlocked phone towards Luna who wore a confused expression. "Play some music."
Not arguing, she excitedly took the phone and he began driving to the destination he had in mind. It was a small restaurant hidden within the city that his grandfather used to take him to when he was younger. When he saw it was still open during a Google search last night, he knew he had to take Luna immediately. He wanted to give her an authentic experience knowing it was her first time on the island and how significant it was to her.
Amber by 311 began playing through the speakers and she couldn't help but nod her head along immediately to the beat. Damian couldn't help but send a glance out of the side of his eye to Luna which she caught. He wasn't expecting her to have a similar music taste to him and it shocked him.
"What?" She asked defensively.
"Oh um I-" Damian spewed out, not knowing how to respond.
Luna's laughter broke out and but she quickly apologized, "fuck Damian, I'm sorry. I'm just kidding!"
Damian sighed in relief, shaking his head, "I can't tell when you're being for real or not."
"I'm taking that as a compliment," she teased, bringing her legs up on the seat to sit criss-crossed. "So where are you taking me?"
"Give it up," he chuckled as he made a left turn on the road. "I am not telling you."
"Ugh," she groaned dramatically, slumping in her seat.
"We're almost there," he told her, squinting his eyes at the sunlight coming through the windshield. "Just a few more minutes."
"Here," sunglasses came into view on Damian's right and he looked to see her offering him them.
"Thanks, L," he told her sincerely, taking the glasses from her hands and placing them on his face.
Luna felt the same rush of heat on her cheeks as she did earlier when he said her nickname, embarrassed it was even affecting her to that level. She wanted to believe it just due to the fact that it was adorable, but she knew it was really because he said it.
"So what does this photoshoot entail?" Luna asked, changing the subject to divert the heat from her face.
"Honestly I'm not sure," he admitted, his eyes fixated on the road ahead of him, his eyebrows creased in confusion. "I think it's at a hotel on a beach though. At least that's what I'm getting from the location they provided."
"How often do you come down here?" Luna asked, intrigued with how he became so familiar with the area. "You haven't put in a location once into the GPS."
