You get out of your car at the back of the building. Loud music blasts from the stadium and lights flash. Opening the door, you step into the rush of staff dashing this way and that. You've been backstage before, but it's overwhelming everytime.
Finally, one of Jess' closest song-writing friends recognizes you.
"Y/n! Are you looking for Jess?"
"Yes, please."
"I'll take you to her."
Gratefully, you nod and follow close behind as she navigates through the mazes of corridors. About a minute later, you arrive at a door that has "JESS" printed on it in cursive. You knock tentatively, and the door swings open.
Jess stands in the doorway, her makeup half on. Her hair flows down her back in a waterfall of curls, and her earrings, barely visible behind her hair, glitter dully in the light.
"Hey, y/n. Don't you have to go to work?"
"Well, that run-in with Dominique kind of ruined job interviews for me. I'll figure something out."
"I'm sorry I couldn't give you a job for this show."
"It's ok. Besides, if I was on stage with you, I think the rumors would spread even faster. I'll just stay out of the public eye for a while and see if things cool down."
"Oh, y/n. You know things like this never cool down, right? The more you stay out of the light, the more they'll think that the rumors are true."
"But...it is true. Why shouldn't we let the whole world know, Jess? I love you, and I'm not ashamed–"
"What would my mum say? She's already against it, and if news got out that we were actually in a serious relationship..."
You stand there, not knowing what to say. Your eyes wander throughout the room and land on a certain outfit on the floor.
"What the bloody hell is this?" you walk past Jess and pick up the piece of sequined lingerie on the floor.
Jess blushes, but not in a my-girlfriend-is-holding-my-lingerie way. More in a my-girlfriend-found-out-about-my-dark-secret-and-now-she's-going-to-kill-me way.
"Um i-it's nothing." she stares down at the floor.
"You're a really bad liar, Jess."
"Y/n, I-I'm so sorry. I thought-"
"That I would be at work?" you say coldly.
"Y-yes."
"Who is it?"
"Celeste? Would you please come out?"
A door at the back of the room opened and a blonde girl, Celeste, peaked out tentatively. You see fire in your eyes as the betrayal runs through your veins. Jess has been out with this bitch?
"I thought we had something!" you shout, throwing your hands up in the air.
Jess backs away, flinching, "We do! I mean, I hope we still do."
"You selfish bitch! You thought you could have two bitches with you, huh? Well guess what. This bitch is leaving. Forever." You feel the tears run down your face, and you turn to leave.
"Y/n, wait!" Jess calls after you, but you don't listen.
You slam the door behind you as tears really start to flood out. A sob fights its way out of your throat as you slide down to the ground, feeling weak. Just yesterday, you had made out with Jess in the back of her car. Did that mean nothing to her? Have all those nights been for nothing?
