"It's time to move, boss." Leo's voice came from outside the door of my study.

"I'll be out in a sec."

I took in a deep breath. Put my gun in my back holster, threw on my jacket, and said a little prayer in my heart.

When I was sure that I was ready, I walked out the door and into the hallway, where I caught sight of Madre and Padre. She leaned on him for support, her grey hair fell to the sides of her face in beautiful curls, and her green dress matched her dangling earrings. She looked much better than she did a few days ago. I couldn't help but feel pleased with what I saw.

Padre had on a navy blue T-shirt which I found hard to believe. My father would never be caught dead in anything other than Armani suits. This side of him was something I never thought I'd see, but I was glad that he was finally letting himself relax.

Madre stretched out her hands and cupped my face in her palms. "Mio Figlio," She cooed as though I was a little boy.

"Madre," I replied in a voice just as gentle.

"I pray for your and Veronica's safe return," She dipped her right hand in her pocket and brought out a rosary. She fastened the rosary around my neck. "Che gli Angeli ed i Santi vi accompagnino."

"Amen. Grazie, mamma." I then turned my attention to Padre. He had a smile on his face as he watched me, always been a man of few words. "The family is in your hands again," I said. "Please take care of my children."

He patted my shoulder. "Son, be rest assured that I will do everything in my power to protect my grandchildren, you just go bring my daughter-in-law home."

Our attention shifted to Felicia who walked down the hallway with Daniel sleeping in her arms. Gio and Bella ran up to me and wrapped their tiny hands around my waist.

I lifted them both at the same while groaning playfully, "You two have gotten so big!" They giggled as I tickled their sides. "Now, I need you both to be good children to Nonna and Nonno, can you do that?" I said in a more serious tone of voice.

"Yes, Pappa" they answered.

I placed them down, and carried Daniel from Felicia; the little guy was too busy enjoying his sleep to care about anything else. I kissed his forehead and took in his fragrance.

I introduced Daniel and Bella to my parents.

I had never seen so much joy in Madre's eyes as she hugged her new grandson and newly found granddaughter. She took Daniel from me while Padre started chatting with Bella. Soon, even Gio and Madre joined in their little convo.

I moved away from their exchange and focused on the blonde lady in a black night dress. "Thank you for everything, Feli."

She shook her head as tears flowed down her cheeks. "Just promise me you'll be careful, and come back to us safely"

"Oh come on, it's not like I'm a soldier going off to battle." I wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

Just then, I made eye contact with Leo and he gave me a knowing look. I broke the hug with Felicia and left without looking back.

I strode out of the mansion, Leo and seven other of my men were hot on my trail. We got to the driveway where three cars were lined up in the order of a sedan, a Chevrolet Corvette, and another sedan, all black with tinted windows. The men divided themselves into 2 groups, each group entered the sedans, and I entered the Chevrolet with Leo who took the steering wheel.

The other two drivers started their cars and Leo followed suit. I took one final glance at the house before we got in motion. All three cars moved in a straight line like a convoy. And less than thirty minutes later, we were driving through the streets of Sicily.
