They lead me through the narrow hallway. Hearing the voices I slow my pace towards the room. One of the men push me,

"Keep it moving boy".

The closer we get, the louder the voices get, and the more nervous I feel. One of the men opens the door and the other escorts me in. Here it goes. This is one of those moments in your life where it could change everything in a blink of an eye. For most teenagers my age, this moment is getting an acceptance letter to college. That should be my moment, but you see my moment isn't anything like that. My moment consists of me shackled up, in a room full of mostly strangers. Also instead of me being in the comfort of my home surrounded by my family, I'm in a courthouse far from home with my parents sitting in the back. My mother sobbing, my father comforting her, while the rest of my family didn't show up. I didn't expect them to, and frankly I wouldn't want them to see me like this anyway. They sit me next to my lawyer. His name is Frederick James, I've only met him twice before. Once when I was first arrested, and once in jail waiting for trial. He wears expensive clothes and drives an expensive car. I can see why considering how much my parents paid him just to be here. So far he hasn't impressed me, by wearing too much gel in his hair, and smells like he bathed in Cologne. It is hard to sit by him without choking on the combination of gel and cologne.

"Hey kid" He pulls me from my thoughts.

"Huh?"

"How you feeling?"

"What do you expect I'm on trial for a crime I didn't commit"

"My bad" he mumbles.

In my opinion the guy is pretty sleazy, but my mother said he is good and will get me out this situation. I just don't see it. Everyone gets quiet as the bailiff calls the court to order.

"please rise" He calls.
There is a loud bang from the front of the room where the judge walks in.

He sits and says
"Everyone but the jury may be seated".

The jury pledge to tell the truth and all that. They sit, all staring at me. But I can't seem to to look at them knowing they decide my fate. The prosecution stands,

"Yes your honor".

He sits then Frederick stands,
"Yes your honor".

He sits and gives me a small, sad smile and pats my back. I just roll my eyes, he didn't seem very confident that we will win. The prosecution stands again,

"Your honor, members of the jury, my name is Bill Drake."

I just space everything out. I'm so nervous, if Frederick doesn't have this under control, my life is over.

About Two Years Earlier

knock knock.

My mom peeks her head in the door, " Calum if you don't get up you are gonna be late for first day of school."

I cover my head with my deep maroon pillow.

"yeah, sure."

"Calum." she says in a warning tone.

"I'm getting up, thanks mom."

She grins, "Well with that attitude I'll be happy to tell you that I got you breakfast."

I excitedly sit up, "The only thing that would make this better is if you said that you had bought me donuts from Sleep's."

She gives me a wide grin, "Well I don't want to toot my own horn, but.."

"You've really outdone yourself this time."

"I know." she says as she walks out of my room and downstairs.

I grab my phone off my nightstand to check my messages. One from Luke, one from Greg, two from Natalie, and of course seven from my lovely  girlfriend. My phone rings, and speaking of the devil. literally.

"Calum!!" she yells into the phone.

"Veronica calm down, stop yelling."

"I texted you seven times last night, who was she?"

I roll my eyes, "Veronica baby I fell asleep."

"Oh sure Calum, next to who?"

"My teddy bear, Eugene."

I hear her giggle, "Shut up Cal, You are ridiculous. You are lucky you are funny, or you'd be walking into school without me on your arm."

Again I roll my eyes, "yes, I know baby."

"Well if you don't dress extremely handsome today you might just be alone."

"I'd look handsome in a trash bag." I say cockily.

"Mhm, sure. I'm serious you better hope you look good or you will be single. Oh and wear something black"

"Okay I gotta go, Love you."

"Okay bye baby, Muah."

I huff, thank god that conversation is over. I get up out of bed and head to the shower. After I get out of the shower I get dressed into something black and head downstairs to the kitchen. Once I get downstairs I can smell fresh made coffee, donuts, and my father's after shave. I come into the kitchen where my mom is cooking bacon and waffles. My mother loves to cook. She always cooks extra for my grandparents who live down the street. She doesn't work, she mostly works around the house or takes care of my grandparents. I'd take care of them too considering they helped pay for the mansion we live in now, and buys me anything I want. My father on the other hand is a lawyer and never stops working. But nobody is complaining that he is never home. Because he brings home hella money, and loves us. My sister though, she absolutely gets on my last nerve. But I love my family, I have a great home life. I have a great life period.
