The note reads,

Thought this was a joke? Think again.

I dial Luke immediately. No answer. I can't believe this. What kind of sick fuck. What kind of game are they trying to play. I hop in my truck and dial Luke again.

He finally answers, "What do you want Calum I'm in class." He whispers into the phone.

"Fine I'll tell you at school. Do you want anything from the donut shop?"

"Yes my usual. See you in a minute."

"Aight sounds good." We hang up and head to the donut shop.

"Is that all?" The woman smiles at me.

"Yes." and return the favor.

"Okay that'll be $15.76."

"Alrighty." I say to her.

I can't believe I just said that. My mother says it all the time.

"Thank you have a nice day." I wave to her.

"Good Luck on the game Friday."

With all this drama, I haven't even had the time to be excited about the first game. I know the boys are gonna be pumped. I just don't know if I'll be able to be excited with them. I'm not even in the mood. On the other hand I have to have a conversation with Veronica, which I'm dreading by the way. I don't even know how to feel after she threw her drink on me. Should I feel bad because I got caught? Or should I be mad at her reaction? Like I said dreading the conversation. I pull up to the school and grab my donuts from the passenger seat along with my bag. I burst into my second hour and run to the seat next to Luke.

Luke looks up, "Where's my donuts?"

"Oh I don't know. Probably in the donut box." I roll my eyes.

We laugh. "So what was so important that you had to call me in class?"

I hand him the note I found on my truck earlier this morning. He looks down at it.

"Again?" He says mouth full and agape.

"Unfortunately yes."

"We have got to get to the bottom of this."

"Tell me about it." I wipe my face.

"So how is your donuts?" I ask.

"Great" He says with his mouth full.

"So the game Friday?"

"Yeah yeah I've almost forgotten." he shakes his head.

"Yeah me too. And I'm the captain." I chuckle.

"Don't feel bad Cal. You've had a lot going on."

"I know. I bet the boys are pumped."

"You know they are."

I wasn't going to bring up the game, because It really puts me down. But I don't want to bother Luke with my secret hater any longer. I decide I should probably text Veronica, considering she hasn't texted me since.

Hey Baby. I know you are mad, but can we talk after practice today?

Sorry have plans

And what would those be?

Um shopping.

After you are done shopping?

We will see Calum

She is absolutely unbelievable sometimes. I am tired of her not having my back when I need her the most.

I sit at my lunch table. No one is here yet, I told Luke to bring me a burger or something. I got out of class early because my teacher had to go feed her cat or something stupid. Someone sits in front of me but I don't look up. I assume its just Jason or something.

Then I hear that sweet voice and giggle, "Earth to Calum."

"Sorry just got a lot on my mind." I Look up to see those blues staring into mine.

She looks around before she walks around so she can sit next to me.

"What is it?" she says and pats my back as I put my face in my hands.

"Somebody has been harassing me." I shake my head.

"Who?"

"That's the worst part, I have absolutely no idea who or who it could be."

"How are they harassing you then?" she starts consoling me by rubbing my back.

"Sending me notes and taking pictures of me-"

"Well well, who do we have here?" Veronica interrupts.

Jayme stands and rolls her eyes, walking away.

Veronica steps in front of her, "Not so fast."

"So Calum, I don't talk to you so you forget about me completely." Veronica says.

"What? no." I say.

"Calum you really want to waste your time on a girl who thinks the only color of the rainbow is black."

"Veronica." I warn her.

"Calum look at her she is wearing gauges."

"And I still look better than you." Jayme finally speaks up.

"Don't talk about her like that Veronica. She didn't do anything to you. or me." I say.

"You are defending her now Calum?" Veronica hisses.

"Yes I am. She has had my back unlike you." I spit.

"Really Calum?" she says

"I do recall you throwing champagne in my face." I say.

Jayme pushes past her.

"We will talk about this later. You are being absolutely ridiculous right now. Call me when you grow up." I say and run after Jayme.

"Jayme!"

"Jayme, wait."

She finally turns and rolls her eyes, "What Calum?"

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"Hearing me out and actually caring what was going on with me."

"Oh." Is all she says.

"And I'm sorry about Veronica. I don't know what her problem is."

"Its okay." She looks down.

"And what she said isn't true. I dress in black a lot too. And I think your gauges are cool, if I had the guts I'd get them too." I look down shyly.

"You really think so?"

"Yes you're style is wicked. I like how you don't follow what everyone else is wearing and you express your own style. You got guts kid."

She giggles which warms my heart. "Thanks, and thanks for having my back."

Out of no where I stepped closer to her almost touching. We just stand there and gaze at each other.

"Always." I say

I cant seem to step away from her as if something is drawing me to her. Finally she coughs and I back away awkwardly scratching the back of my neck.

"Well see you later Calum." She smiles at me.

"Yes hopefully."

She turns to walk away.

"Wait!"

She turns her head.

"Are you going to the game Friday?"

She bites her bottom lip, "Would you wish me to?"

"Yes I really would." I half smile.

"See you there." She turns again and walks away.

Now to deal with Veronica.
