Chapter 25

Carved

Kinabukasan, napag-isipan naming ituloy ang planong mag-wall climbing. Dapat kasi raw sabay-sabay kaming sumubok dahil sa lahat doon ng activities, iyon at ang zipline yung pinakatindi.

We did it by group because we obviously couldn't do all ten of us at once. I was thrilled. I have never tried wall climbing before, but to be fair, I've never tried anything outside of studying, photography, and skating. Everything on the resort was new for me, that was why it was so enticing.

The rays of the sun flashed upon my skin as beads of sweat formed in my forehead—but that was the least of my worries, I had to make sure that I wasn't going to fall for my death. The harness was secured though, and I had a good grip of the rocks. Besides, natutuwa ako sa suspense dahil sa adrenaline.

"Don't think too much of falling, Elize. I'm just below you, I can easily catch you," Sauyer assured from underneath me.

Napatingin ako sa baba at nakita siyang umaakyat din. Nakapokus ang kaniyang atensyon sa pag-angat ng kaniyang sarili sa mga bato, at nang itinaas niya ang kaniyang ulo upang magtama ang aming mga mata, sumilay ang malaking ngisi sa kaniyang labi.

I snorted at him. "If I fall and you catch me, pareho tayong dalawa mahuhulog at mamamatay."

He smirked. "Even better."

"Tangina, sarap magpahulog," Thaianara muttered a curse. She was just a little above me, but she heard Sauyer and I's conversation. "Napilitan lang nga ako dahil takot, ako pa yung hindi ginagabayan!"

"Huwag kang mag-alala, Thai, mayroong gagabay sa 'yo," tugon ni Euclid sa kabilang side. Umaakyat din siya, pero parang may pinopormahan. "Gagabayan ka ni San Pedro papuntang langit."

Sinipat siya ng isa.

"Ulol!" Singhal niya, ngunit nagkasalubong ang kilay nang makitang nag-p-posing si Euclid habang umaakyat. "Uy, ginagawa mo?"

"If I die tonight, Imma make it look pretty." Euclid smiled sweetly.

"May pinopormahan 'yan!" Sigaw ni Kaia galing sa baba na kasama sa nanunuod sa 'ming umaakyat.

As always, while everyone was struggling to climb the rocky wall, fearing for their lives, Euclid was doing it effortlessly. He even managed to climb faster than us despite exerting the minimum effort. Thaianara on the other hand, did not want to try it because she was terrified, but everyone urged her to do it because we all did.

And sometimes, we have to face our fears.

"Christmas is approaching, y'all," Eurick announced after he put down a glass of Sprite on the table and threw his head back on the chair.

Ang iba'y pinagpatuloy ang paglilibot habang nagpasya akong magpahinga muna sa main restaurant. Sumunod sa akin si Sauyer, at dahil doon, sumama na lang din si Lander at Eurick.

I was sipping on my banana milk beside Sauyer when he turned to glance at me and smirked, before withdrawing his gaze and putting it back on Lander and Eurick in front of us. The three of them then shared meaningful gapes that left my forehead creasing.
