Sorrowful night

PRESENT

He was tieing Soyeon's hair in a pony tail when Mr Yoon entered in the living room with plates of sandwich.

Mr Yoon:"So here is soeyeon's breakfast."
He said enthusiastically putting the dish on table.

Jungkook and Soyeon looked at the sandwich then at each other.
Jungkook:"Dad don't tell me you tried a new recipe yet again."

Mr Yoon(laughing nervously):"It's so good. C'mon just taste it Soyeon-ah."
Soyeon:"Not again dad, i-"

She was cut off when Mrs Jeon suddenly stepped inside from the main gate. They were neighbors after all, houses were Infront of each other.

Mrs Jeon:"Ohh ohhh I'm late, Soyeon-ah are you hungry child ? I don't know why I slept till so late-"

She kept speaking without looking at anyone else. They were looking at her worriedly, she was looking so exhausted.

Mr Yoon:"Jungmi are you okay ?"
He cut her off. She sighed and looked at them then smiled.

Mrs Jeon:"I'm fine, I was just worried about Soyeon. Tell me my barbie what do you want to have for breakfast ?"

Soyeon:"Anything mom, that tastes better than dad's sandwiches."
They snorted at her comment except Mr Yoon who just flared his nose at that.

Jungkook:"Mom, I'm coming to help you."
It was weekend, so there was no need to be worried about office.

Mrs Jeon:"okay come"
Soyeon:"I'm coming too oppa"
Jungkook ruffled her hair and gave piggy back ride.

Mr Yoon smiled at the trio and started setting the cushions on couch properly.

A few days later

You were standing under the shade, it was off time from office. Rain was pouring and you remembered that day of high school, when you had first k!ss with Jungkook.

You both were friends since childhood as well as neighbors.
You both got married early, at the age of 22 as soon as you graduated.

You got jobs in different companies but that was okay, both of you were getting paid enough to live a smooth life if not luxurious. And both of you were happy with that.

Yn (whisper):"I love you."
You stuck your hand out and felt the water drops falling on your palm. Soon you stepped under the rain, the tears of sky hid your tears of sorrow.

You were totally drenched in rain when you felt a coat wrapping around your shoulders.
Your heart pumped faster and you immediately turned around to see him standing there but your hopes came crashing down when you saw Karen instead of him.

He was looking at you worriedly.
Karen:"Are you okay yn ? You're totally soaked."
He said, almost yelling at you. You just kept staring at him blankly. He sighed and took you towards his car, and you got dragged by him like a lifeless doll.

Your eyes were stuck on the side window. It was still raining heavily. Karen looked at you from the corner of his eyes and seeing you lost in your thoughts, he felt a pang on his heart.

He gulped and looked away from you, he knew you were again in memories of your past.
Your mind took you back to that horrible night. The last night before your divorce.

FLASHBACK
A night before your and Jungkook's divorce

You head was placed on his b@re chest while his hand was brushing through your hair. Both of you were quiet but the pain in hearts was unbearable.

Jungkook:"yeobo"
You silently looked at him, and he gave you a beautiful smile but his eyes were too grim to hide his torment.

You propped on your elbow and placed your palm on his cheek.
Jungkook:"Talk please."
A mere whisper was all that could escape from his lips.

Jungkook:"Talk please. Before we've no right to do that."
He said gulping the lump in his throat.
Yn:"Kook. Please no. Please, let's not do this."

Jungkook (caressing your cheek with his knuckles):"We've to. We really have to."
He tried to smile but a tear betrayed him and slipped down his eyes. You gathered that lonely tear with your lips, that made more drops to flow down his eyes.

You parted and looked at him with your red eyes.
Yn:"kook"
His veiny hand brushed your b@re back up and down in love.

Jungkook:"Your kook loves you so much, yn."
You cried out and hugged his neck. He hugged you back so tightly as if his soul was le@aving his body.

Jungkook (chocked voice through tears):"We've to do this, yeobo. For our sister. For our parents."

His heart was in agony, too much agony. To live without you, he wasn't sure how long he could do that.
Yn(snuggling in him):"I love you kook, so much."

Jungkook (squishing you in himself):"I love you more yeobo. I love you most."
He said, while every vein of his body palpitated in torment.

The happy life your family had became grim the day you came to know about Soyeon's heart disease. She was in critical condition and needed a heart transplant.

Treatment was extremely expensive, not only that there was no certainty that operation would be successful. And treatment from beru highly qualified doctors wasn't something you could afford even after getting loans.

You and Jungkook were already in too much sorrow, but then seeing your dad becoming lifeless at the news broke you even more. At that time Karen came.

A rich man. Who gave you an offer to marry him and in return he'll pay for Soyeon's treatment. Not only treatments, he promised to call famous doctors from around the world to treat her.

You declined it and none of you thought much about that, you and Jungkook were thinking to sell your house and get loans for her treatment but you were devastated when doctor said that they need more experienced doctor to operate her so that chances of survival could be high. Her condition was getting worst with time.

Not having any other option, you had to accept Karen's offer. To be honest you and Jungkook were totally broken at that, even your parents. But you knew you had to do that.

For your sister. Your mom entrusted her to all of you before leaving this world.

You were kind of thankful to Karen for one thing that he never forced himself on you and gave you the privacy you wanted.

He gave you separate room and didn't touch you except for a few occasional forehead k!sses, that you of course didn't like but just bore it.

Now the doctors from abroad were coming to treat her and were giving her medicines to stabilize a little before Operation.

Her surgery was coming near and heart donor was found. The donor was a cancer patient and her vitals matched with Soyeon's.

FLASHBACK ENDS

Karen:"We're home."
He said, placing his hand on your shoulder. You flinched and looked at him just to see him looking back at you with his ever so soft eyes.

Yn(clearing throat):"Uhh yeah."
Karen:"Are you feeling okay ? Did you catch cold ?"

He asked worriedly and you shook your head, looking away from him.
Yn(low mumble):"I'm okay."

You had no idea why he did that. He knew you loved Jungkook but he still confessed his love and told you to divorce Jungkook.

Was he so selfish ? But again, he was doing so much for Soyeon that you couldn't say anything to him. And it's not like he forced you, you accepted his offer.
