PRESENT

He was sitting, leaning back on the headboard. The darkness of the room symbolized his grim life.

Rays of light coming from the window highlighted his features and made him look ethereal but the one to admire him wasn't there.

His shallow eyes stared at his wedding ring.
The initials engraved on it that made him smile.

He grabbed the chain around his neck and took it out of his shirt. Your wedding ring, that was hanging in it made his eyes soft.

His thumb gently caressed your wedding ring. You were divorced, but for him the love was never ending. He couldn't take that ring off of his finger, he didn't have to. For him it was his.

You were his. He knew your heart was his.
There was a knock on his door. He immediately sat straight and put the chain back under his shirt.

Jungkook;"come in mom."
Mrs Jeon entered inside and switched on the lights.

Jungkook saw how weak she had become. Her eyes had dark circles under them. She looked tired.

He gave her a smile as lively as he could, when she sat beside him. But she was a mother, his outer smile couldn't hide his inner sorrow from her. She softly caressed his head.

He laid his head on her shoulder and wrapped arms around her.
Mrs Jeon:"Jungkook -ah how was your day at office ?"

Jungkook:"It was as usual mom."
Mrs Jeon:"Thank god, Soyeon is getting better."
Jungkook:"Hmm, I am really relieved about that."

There was a silence for a few minutes before she again spoke.
Mrs Jeon:"Always be happy, Jungkook-ah"
The pain in her voice made his heart ache even more.

He knew, she was aware of his every torment no matter how hard he tries to hide it.
Jungkook (parting away, facing her):"I'm happy mom. With you, dad and soyeon."

She caressed his cheek and smiled sadly. There used to be your name in his every sentence, but now he lost the right. Though you're still here in his heart. The place that's yours and only yours.

Mrs Jeon:"A mother wants nothing but her children's happiness."
She gulped the lump in her throat.

Mrs Jeon:"I Want you to be happy, kook."
Jungkook (blinking eyes to stop tears):"I told you mom I'm happy."

She sighed and once again pulled his head to rest on her shoulder. He closed his eyes, and a silent tear rolled down his cheek.

Mrs Jeon:"I want you, yn and soyeon to be happy."
She prayed silently.

She was laying on her side under the comfortable duvet but she couldn't feel any comfort. People have to loose peace in love sometimes. Her pillow was wet and her throat was hoarse from all the cries. She fisted the blanket tightly and sniffed lightly.

Minsoo:"Why not me Jungkook ?"
Her pretty but swollen lips whispered in the thin air.

Flashback
Last night

He was sitting quietly after having dinner with his colleagues. He went to a restaurant for his office party and now they were at bar. His fingers traced the edges of the glass while he was zoning out.

Minsoo, his colleague and friend took a seat beside him.
Minsoo:"Jungkook."
He looked at her.

Jungkook:"hmm ?"
She smiled. He had her wrapped around his fingers. She loved him so much, since the first time she saw him almost an year ago.

She belonged to a rich family but she had an urge to become successful on her own.
Thus, after graduating she started to look for jobs and found one, without any references.

She originally lived in daegu but got transferred to Busan. The office she got transferred into was same where Jungkook worked.

She had never felt anything like she felt towards Jungkook. But after knowing that he was married and so in love with his wife made her heart break. She was burning in fire of one sided love while his polite and gentle behavior made it worse.

She couldn't move on from him. He was like that with everyone, a gentleman and a generous person.

Though she knew it was a general treatment from him she was receiving as his friend and his teammate, and that he saw her as one of his other friends, nothing less nothing more, even that could not stop her feelings for him.

Now that he was divorced for almost one and a half month she was going to confess her true feelings. She already had enough of keeping everything to herself.

Minsoo:"I see you're still wearing your wedding ring."
He averted his gaze to his ring and stared at it with his whole heart.

Minsoo:"But you'll take it off one day."
He blinked blankly. He knew he was never going to do that. He was well aware of the fact that he was always going to be yours. Just yours.
Jungkook:"I won't."

He mumbled but she heard it, but kept quiet. It did hurt her.
"I'll make you do that. You'll have to take it off."
She thought before gulping.

Minsoo:"Leave it. Anyways, I want to say something."
He frowned a little and smiled lightly.
Jungkook:"I'm listening."

Minsoo(heaving a breath):"Jungkook, I won't beat around the bush. I'm into you. And I want you to give me a chance."

He stared quietly at her for a few seconds. He didn't expect that. He had no idea she felt for him when he had always seen her as a good friend, nothing else.

Honestly he never saw her or anyone except yn as something else than a good human and a friend. He pressed his lips in a thin line before opening his mouth to say something but she cut him off.

Minsoo:"it's okay, Don't answer now, think about it and-"
She stopped when he placed his hand over hers and looked in his orbs silently.

Jungkook:"There's nothing to think minsoo."
She chuckled nervously.
Minsoo:"Just once. You'll not regret it."

He sighed and smiled at her apologetically.
Jungkook (truthfully):"You're my friend minsoo. A good one. But yn, she's my love. I love her so there is automatically no chance for anyone else. I hope you understand. I'm sure you'll get a good guy, the one who'll love you and cherish you."

Minsoo(eyes getting wet):"Why can't you be that boy ? Why can't you move on ? Yn's already committed to someone else."

He squeezed her hand a little, assuring her.
Jungkook:"I'm really sorry. I respect your feelings but I can't reciprocate them. Never. my heart doesn't. It won't."

He said, without hiding anything. He didn't want to give her fake hope because it won't be any fruitful for her to be in one sided love all her life.

He wanted her to move on.
She chuckled in pain.
Jungkook (sighing):"I hope you move on. And find your love."

He wished whole heartedly because he wouldn't like to see his friend in pain.

She was about to put her other hand above his but he immediately took his hand away, that made her hurt. He gave another apologetic smile.

Jungkook:"Let's forget whatever you said. Let's be friends like before."
She gulped the lump in her throat and looked away.

Jungkook (standing up):"I'll be going now, mom will be waiting for me. Take care."
He said before striding out of there, while she was left alone. A few tears escaped her eyes.

Flashback end

She chuckled in pain after remembering that. And Jungkook started behaving normal again like nothing happened. Because for him nothing really happened but for her she got rejected by the love of his life.

Today when Jungkook was having headache she insisted him to go to the hospital. He refused but she and their another friend Sungjae insisted to go, so they took Jungkook to hospital.
Sungjae had to go back in mid of Jungkook's checkup because of some work, and then they met you and soyeon.

She still remembered how affectionately Jungkook's eyes were staring at you. How he was looking at you with unfulfilled longings, she knew he was never going to look at anyone else the same way. It hurt and she bit her lower quivering lip.
