Happiness is all that matters

PRESENT

Knock on the door disturbed your sleep. You had just drifted into a light slumber at the dusk. Last night you and Jungkook went to Mrs Jeon's and your mom's grave then visited your dad and spent time with soyeon before Jungkook dropped you back to home.

You sighed and rubbed your face, sitting straight.
Yn(coarsely):"come in."

You knew it would be Karen. He entered inside and smiled.
Karen:"Good morning."

Yn(tying your hair in a bun):"Good morning."
He carefully looked at you.
Karen:"Looks like you didn't have a good sleep. I understand that. Now wake up and let's have Breakfast."

Last night he was so distressed about the whole situation when Mr Kim called him and told him that donor was found.

He couldn't describe his happiness after hearing that. He didn't want you to be sad at any cost. Doctors had arrived, and everything was ready. He was pretty satisfied.

Yn:"when will we leave for hospital?"
Karen:"After breakfast. Come downstairs, I'm waiting."

He said before walking out of the room. You exhaled deeply and stood up to get fresh.

Operation was successful and you were relieved. All of you were happy. Karen was happy in your happiness but his heart was heavy because he knew he was going to s@crifice his love for your love and happiness.

Mr Yoon was feeding Soyeon while you were sitting beside them with a smile.
Soyeon:"Unnie, dad where is kook oppa ?"

Your smile shrunk at that. It was true, you were worried about Jungkook. Yesterday was operation and he hadn't come till now, it was so unlike of him. For him Soyeon was his sister, he loved her too much.

Mr Yoon:"Yn do you know anything ? I called him so many times but he didn't pick up."
He said worriedly.

You shook your head.
Yn:"No dad, I have no idea. He didn't contact me as well."

You bit your lower lip.
A nurse came and told that Dr Kim was calling you.

You were sitting in Dr Kim's cabin alone. He left after giving you laptop and told you to play the video. You played it but your breath got stuck in your lungs when you saw him, smiling.

Yn(whisper):"Jungkook"
He waved his hand.
Jungkook:"Yn, this video is for you yeobo. I already made videos for Dad and soyeon. Love, if you're watching this then it means I'm gone."

You looked at the screen blankly. Not believing what you were hearing.

Jungkook (smiling):"I just wanted to tell you once again that I love you yeobo. I love you so much. You know what... The donor of Soyeon's heart couldn't survive and I didn't want to live without you. I had no reason to.

I'm guardian of soyeon as well so Dr Kim told me but we kept it from you that the donor had deceased, not to worry you.

Doctors weren't able to find anyone suitable and I did what I felt right. I was found suitable as a donor thankfully. You, dad and soyeon be happy okay ? I'll be watching you from up, along with mom."

A tear slipped down his cheek.
Jungkook:"Miss me okay ?"
He sniffed with a smile.

Jungkook:"Don't be too sad. I can't see you hurt you know that yeobo. If you miss me just know that I'm near you, beating in Soyeon's chest. She's my sister and I am so proud that I fulfilled my responsibility of being a brother.

Just feel me in her hmm ? And live your life yeobo. I want to see you happy, always. Don't you dare to be hurt because I'll be angry at you. I'm keeping my eyes on you got that ?"

Tiny droplets of water travelled down your cheeks. Your chest was suffocating. You were feeling short of breath. The world was revolving and you could feel yourself falling in deep dark pit.

Jungkook:"I'll get buried with our wedding ring, still in my finger. Your wedding ring, I put it in the side drawer of out room, keep it to yourself. And-"

He gulped the lump forming in his throat.
Jungkook:"And I'll be waiting for you in heaven. We'll again get married here."

He paused to wipe his tears.
Jungkook:"I love you yeobo. I'll wait for you to be my bride in heaven."

He said and the video blacked out, you kept staring at the screen with empty mind before it slowly dawned on you.

A loud cry erupted from your throat and you kept crying , in pain.
Yn:"Jungkook ! Please no !"

You cried out.
Yn:"please come back."
You were feeling like dy!ng. You felt dizzy and congested.

You grabbed your hair in fists and wailed in sorrow, the sorrow that was too much to bear. You wanted him back. You loved him too much to let him go.

He was chugging the burning liquor down his throat.
Minsoo, who was standing beside him just stirred her glass and wiped her tears before laughing a little.

Minsoo:"This love is so cruel Karen. I couldn't even ........ apologize to Jungkook. I'm the reason of their hurt. I'm reason of their separation. I'm the mu√derer of his happiness."

He looked at her with his red eyes and smiled lightly, a smile of torment.
Karen:"Don't blame yourself now. It's useless to cry over spilt milk."

He paused and took another sip.
Karen:"He really loves her more than I ever can. More than anyone can. Even after having nothing, he gave her everything. Without hesitation. With all his heart. I wish I could have the Chance to do that for her, even God is on his side."

Minsoo kept quiet.
Karen:"But you know what, all of us have one thing in common. All four of us have very hard luck when it comes to love. Every one of us had to leave our loved ones for their own good."

Minsoo wrapped her arms around her legs and kept her head on knees, shedding tears.

Years Later

You and Soyeon came back after visiting your parents' and Jungkook's grave. Yes, your dad left you two alone last year. People leave the world buy they stay in hearts, forever.

You were sitting among audiences and soyeon looked at you with a smile before starting her fansign. You smiled back at her. Today it was her first fansign as a painter, she was getting successful in what she liked to do.

You looked at your ring finger and saw your wedding ring.

It made your heart happy and you exhaled deeply. It was good. You and your sister were living together, a happy life. Karen and Minsoo were still your friends, they told you the truth and you forgave them, not immediately but after a few months.

It was written in fate to happen like this. They were at wrong but what mattered was they were regretting it. You knew Karen loved you but you were thankful that he let you go for your own happiness.

You didn't give up on life because Jungkook didn't want you to. You kept living your life just like he wanted you to. You were determined to fulfill all his wishes.

No matter how lucky you are, some wishes, some longings remain unfulfilled. Just like Jungkook's wish of having a happy family with you was never granted.

Good people don't always get a happy ending.
Every love story doesn't get happily ever after.
It was a sad ending for you but you weren't heartbroken, because his true love still resided inside your heart and always will.

For Jungkook, he was contended with this decision of his fate, at least his heart which always longed for you, and only you will stay near you forever.

You are waiting to be his bride in heaven and he's doing the same up there. And you know after long years of separation you both will become one and inseparable, it'll be all worth it.
