_____WHEN CLEO GOT BACK FROM HOME, IT WAS STILL SUMMER AND HANNAH called her over, rambling about how she ended things with Zach, the two girls were sitting on Hannah's bed, facing each other.

"Why did you even..?" Cleo asked "I mean Zach is hot and kinda dumb but i don't think he's a bad person, so why did you two end things, you were so cute"

Hannah responded with a shrug "I don't like him like that i guess" she answered

Cleo nodded "Justin..." she mumbled

Hannah shook her head, making Cleo's mouth fall agape "You like someone else? How is he like? Who is it?" she asked

Hannah let her face stretch into a smile "Honest, kind even though when you look at her she seems mean"

Cleo let out a scoff "It's a her?" she asked "Tell me more"

"At first she can be kinda bitchy but when you learn to know her, she's actually a really warm hearted person" Hannah answered, Cleo let a smile stretch across her face "And her smile, oh God" Hannah added______

The first thing she thought of when she woke up was a birthday, Alex's birthday. She had to think about that, unless she wanted to crumble under the pressure of the trial. she bring a hand to her face, staring at it. The constant shaking in her fingers didn't seem to stop.

The blonde shook it off and got up from the bed, walking downstairs, when she arrived in the kitchen she froze at the sight of Justin eating at the table with her parents, Clay on the table with them. That was something she would never get used to.

"You should have a pancake, they're fucking amazing" Justin said

"I'll get you a plate" her dad said as he got up

Her mom kept staring at her, worry etched on her features "your dad's taking you to court today, i wish i could be there as well "

Cleo took the plate from her dad mumbling a thank you, panic settled over her at the sight of her shaky hands, making her walk away, she arrived outside, inhaling deeply, her chest heavy with anxiety. Hannah"s trial rested on her shouldes and that realization was terrifying. To distract herself, she took the newspaper lying on the floor. But her eyes immidiately widened in horror as her heartbeat sped up. HANNAH LIED was written on the thin paper in red paint. The threats didn't seem to stop.

Cleo knew she was going to have a bad day. When she arrived at court, they immediately started to question the girl in every possible way, trying to prove that Hannah was a bright and lively girl who would've been alive had the school helped her. When the man was finally done with the questions, the school lawyer got up, her gaze piercing.

"Mrs. Jensen what was your relationship with Hannah?" she asked, to which Cleo frowned

She cleared her throat "We were friends" she answered

The woman tilted her head "But you two shared a kiss when you spent a night with Courtney, is that correct?" Cleo nodded "I need a verbal confirmation" the older woman demanded

Cleo shifted on the chair "Yes, that is correct but it was just-"

"And were you aware that Hannah was writing poems?" She cut her off

"Yes" Cleo answered

The woman kept pacing in front of the girl before taking out a piece of paper, she rambled about piece of exhibit that Cleo couldn't understand "And did you know who the forbidden fruit was?" the woman asked. Hannah's lawyer tried to intervene but was quickly intercepted by the judge, the woman turned back to Cleo.
