location: seoul, south korea
after another fateful encounter with his ex-girlfriend, jay really was down in the dumps. therefore, his sister; who so gracefully offered to watch jade because "paw and eomma are going on a date", arranged a "date" with jay and her best friend, eliana. she likes to call it a date, but jay and eliana beg to disagree for two reasons. one, their denial for their feelings for each other. and two, their age gap. two really only applies to eliana because she's six years older than him and he won't be nineteen for another six months, but that does not stop jay from feeling madly in love with her, per an average teenage boy's feelings.
it was decided by cupid herself that the two were going to an ice cream shop close to her, rin, and eliana's dorm.
even if he wanted to hide his feelings for her, that didn't stop him from wanting to be close to her. jay convinced eliana to hold his hand because he was "scared" to cross the busy street, despite living in seoul before. they both knew dating rumors would spark because of this, but eliana's dating ban just ended so she knew she wouldn't get in as much trouble for media reporting this.
still having hand in hand, they entered the small ice cream shop, that was surprisingly not busy. there were two other pairs besides them who seemed to be on dates. approaching the counter, their eyes scanned over the menu above them to pick one of the many options. jay, being incredibly socially anxious and insecure about his korean pronounciation, opted to step back and hide part of his body behind eliana and let her order. they have been out for ice cream with a few other friends before, so she knew what he ordered because it never changed.
after getting their orders; jay, two scoops of vanilla in a cup; and eliana, strawberry in a waffle cone, they sat down in a booth and their hands finally came apart.
to commemorate the moment, jay took out his phone and held the cup next to eliana's face and took a picture, leaving her extremely confused.
he couldn't help but admire how she looked as the rays of the sunset beamed through the window. the color of her freshly bleached hair seemed to blend into his ice cream, leaving him in even more awe.
"i delude myself into thinking that someone who's cold to everyone is only warm to me."
"pardon?"
"is this a bad time to say i love you?"
